real heimishe hungarian food - the best in the world! no cholent, kugel or chicken soup on earth like reich's! everything is just delicious, made perfectly. I missed it desperately after being in Eretz Yisroel. There's just no Shabbos without that cholent!

Quite nice flavour on the pastrami but not a patch on a proper New York deli Reuben. Pretty dry and barely any kick of mustard or tanginess from the sauerkraut or sweetness of russian dressing that balances out perfectly on a decent Reuben. The predominant flavour was smoke. Pretty stingy with the portions as well with most of the filling packed up near the front, but that's Seven Dials overheads for you I guess.

Restaurant 1701
Certainly not the heavy eastern European cuisine I was expecting, 1701 is light and modern ranging from Spain to Afghanistan (and seemingly omitting Russia). An interesting visit for the interesting historical background to the dishes, but I'm not sure I'd come back. The food was good but not fantastic - I'm happy to drop much more than my 1701 bill for something truly amazing, but this simply wasn't up to the standards I'd expect.

Very expensive and not so tasty. I suffered many times with their food, often near expiration, also full of salt, oil and sugar. Overpriced and they shouldn't sell food that they are about to trash.
