Chess instructor

My 6-year-old son (Y2) has been playing chess with them since Y1. He started joining the chess class at his school first then they asked him to join Saturday Squads. The coaches/managers are amazing and flexible as they always ask us how he is enjoying the lessons or not. They always give us some advices as well as chances to try the other classes/coaches if needed. They also seek our honest opinions and think solutions together if we my son finds difficulties! I really trust them and my son is enjoying their classes every week. The coaches are nice and skilful. They know students individual abilities well. My daughter is also joining their holiday camps sometimes. She really enjoys it too!

My 11 year old son is a member of the club. I am so impressed with the attitude of the adult members, who are happy to play a game with him and take time to explain mistakes and praise moves. There are lots of opportunities for competition, events, puzzles. The club facilities are great and the Secretary and Chair could not make you feel more welcome.

Well deserved 5 stars.A superb coach, good mentor with great skills in communication and patience. He knows very well how to keep kids engaged while maintaining the right level of challenge to get the best out of young minds.

Wallace Chess is very passionate about delivering high quality chess lessons to their students. John-Paul and Astrid's nurturing teaching style helps inspire their students to not only want to improve but to love the game. Highly recommended!

My 7 year old son has played with Wallace for 2 years. It's been a great club/squad offering excellent chess coaching with experienced, patient teachers. During lockdown the Wallace Sessions have been particularly helpful - keeping him happy and occupied in constructive online chess.

Drago is a fantastic tutor. He's reliable, patient, and does an excellent job at planning lessons to get the most out of students. I'm seeing a steady improvement in my playing ability and rating since I began. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their game, no matter what their skill level.

My elderly parents went to collect my son after chess and they got lost so was c 20 mins late, and without informing us they sent us an invoice of £30, when we detested the charge they threatened to take our son out from the class. We felt it was really unfair but we had to pay for the penalty because he loves chess, but the whole communication from Wallace chess was extremely unsympathetic and we were very disappointed with the company.

My sons have been having online chess tutoring lessons with Drago for a few months now. He is a fantastic tutor and tailors each lesson to their individual (and quite varying) abilities. He is very encouraging and his love for chess is infectious. I just wish we had found him a lot sooner!
