A lifesaving service – After providing Emergency Mental Health First Aid care to a 16-year-old young person struggling with suicidal thoughts. The young person was minutes away from taking his own life when Adam from Gabor Health Care, took a phone call from a desperate dad in need, who’s only concern was for his son and getting him the right support. Adam went out of his way to help find the young person and then when he was found Adam used professional methods and strategies with a caring and calm approach to encourage the young person to think positively about his life. Once they were sat safely and the young person was feeling much calmer, he was able to identify other services and interventions that the young person could benefit from and referred him on. As well as regularly keeping in touch with him to ensure his progression with his health and wellbeing. An overall excellent and lifesaving service that’s main purpose is to support people who need it the most from people that truly care.YMCA Swansea is excited to have booked training for all staff in our Youth and Community Department in Adverse Childhood Experiences and De-fuse-ion training with Gabor Health Care after seeing the incredible skills applied in their own practice. Gabor Healthcare stepped in to help me with my daughter who has been suffering with mental health issues. We had reached crisis point with things and there was no immediate help available through the NHS at the time.The care, compassion and knowledge they shared with me was outstanding!They helped me understand my daughter’s issues and provided me with key strategies to enable me to help her myself.We worked together to improve her self confidence and have been able to have moments where she has been happy and actually laughed. This has been a big turning point for us and I am grateful to Gabor Team for their excellent and most valuable service.

My brother is a non-verbal 26-year-old Autistic man. Like a lot of autistic individuals my brother dislikes loud noises, crowds and changes of routine.Over the last few years his behaviour has taken a complete turn for the worst, to the point where he is now harming himself and other people when he has gone off baseline. He bites, squeezes and scrams and makes himself bleed on times, which is always so upsetting to see.My mum and I were at a complete loss as to know what to do. My brother is bigger and stronger than us both, so managing him has been so difficult when he has these outbursts. My mum even had to finish work as there wasn’t a service who could/would cater for his needs.We are so grateful to have come across Gabor Healthcare. Adam and his team go/have gone over and above for my brother and for us as a family.Adam came to the comfort of our home to meet my brother for the first time. We had explained to my brother ahead of time that Adam was coming so it wasn’t a shock for him. He didn’t want to come downstairs but was happy for Adam to sit in his games room and even let him have a turn of his game!We couldn’t believe how receptive my brother was of Adam. Adam took his time completely and went down to my brother’s level. He didn’t push or ask anything of him, he just respected his space until he was comfortable enough to engage.All the staff have so much patience and are so caring. It feels like one big family!Three months on and My mother has been able to go back to work part time and my brother has recently enrolled in college once a week accompanied by a member of staff from Gabor.Gabor Healthcare supports him with day-to-day tasks such as health appointments, which have always been very stressful for myself and my mother.They also encourage his independence. They support him shopping, with personal care such as shaving etc and have even got him washing dishes!!We didn’t have much hope as we have tried many avenues of support for my brother, but now we could never imagine not having Gabor Healthcare in our lives.
