Outstanding food, and excellent value for money.The food is piping hot and the portions are a good size.The service staff and attentive and the customer service is excellent.Best around by far in our opinion.

Friendly staff , excellent service and good food as always. Variety choices at £12 only for 2 courses meal! What a big treat!The only thing needs improvement is the toilet hygiene and toilet flush not working properly.

The pizza stand across the road that’s now a part of this places offering either needs to get more pizza ovens or use common sense when preparing orders. For example if a guy orders 6 pizzas, doesn’t pay then walks off to the Spar because he can’t be bothered to wait in person, perhaps use common sense, serve the one pizza order for the person who is actually going to pay for it and wait. Don’t make them wait 35-40 minutes in 5 degree C temp for someone else’s order to be made who hasn’t paid for it yet and can’t be bothered to wait for it.I’ve been a loyal customer since that pizza stand opened but no more. The person working there tonight has no clue. Such a shame as their product is excellent and the woman that usually works there is lovely.

What a place and 2 courses for £12 and the quality it's still cooked at wow. Had a gable of 16 this evening and it was amazing everything front of house food table service all on point and not forgetting the service before hand booking through Instagram nothing was too much and any question was answered quick and efficiently honestly top class

Lovely warming venue, fabulous food and great staff. Amazing value for money with the 2 or 3 course options or my favourite the fresh fish option. Best swordfish and halibut we’ve ever had are from El Gordo’s. We will be regulars like we were at the Gate. So lucky to have a place like this near to us !

Visited as we have had some lovely meals at the gate and wanted to see what el gordo's was like.Starters were lovely, I had prawns 1 had the seafood platter of the day and 2 others had the croquette potatoes, only moan were not offered bread for the table.Mains, 1 had lamb chops, 1 had pork belly and both said it was lovely, 1 had the steak skewers, lots of fat and gristle on every piece, I had medallions of steak, sliced too thin that it was over cooked and presentation was not good, the 2 dearest meals were the poorest, we spent £190 and left a little disappointed.On the plus side the only 2 waiters serving who were running around everywhere were very nice and could not do enough for us.

I miss the Gate, but after discovering that they had reopened as El Gordo’s, I was very happy. The food is always excellent and service is quick. Good portions are always good value for money and you always leave feeling satisfied and having good value for money.I have sampled the Sea food platter and scallops, as well as having Sunday lunch. All food is extremely fresh and well prepared.
