Global Debt Recovery

Spoke to them on the phone about letter's been sent to me about someone who doesn't live here, I presume a dept. Freindly service, hope that's the end of it and it was a free number I had to call.

Recieved email asking to contact them. I asked what it was regarding and was very rudely told that unless I passed security (giving them all my personal details and information of DOB etc) I would not be given any information as to what this matter was regarding. I was lectured on how their company had been going for over 30 years and that I should check out their website and get back to them when I was prepared to pass security check.

Had a letter sent to my house asking me to call, caused major issues with my other half presuming I was in debt. When called they had an incorrect trace on my name. Not a nice experience. Maybe they should check more before chasing people.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are contacted by any debit recovery company for a debt that is six-years old, or older, DO NOT PAY IT as it is not enforceable!This is because the debt is now 'Statue Barred'. (Please Google Statue Barred).Having read the comments made by Darren Street it is ridiculous to hear how pleased he was after paying a £700 debit off that was SEVENTEEN years old! Really? So rather than jumping for joy at the incorrect advise he was given, I would be ringing up complaining like mad at has he has just LOST £700!Fizz DOne on the other hand is fully aware that a debt of 10 year is no longer enforceable. So well done Fozz DOne for not paying.PLEASE be aware though, that if the debt has ever been to a Court (Magistrate or Small Claims) then it will not be able to be written off under the legal Statute Barred.Good luck everyone and hope my advice will be helpful.

Why can i not put less than 1 star? Stupid people chasing a debt that was not even mine, which was statute barred just over 10 years ago.Not even my debt to start with. Lets see what they think of my letter claiming compensation for their continued harassment.

I received a letter on 26th September 2019 and it was for a debt unpaid dating back to 2002, how foolish I was back then. I called GDR and spoke with Tyrone, a superb guy, very professional, he spoke very polite to me and explained the debt that had been outstanding for 17 years and I paid it immediately, a dip in the account of £700 but only one person to blame and that was me ! These guys are doing their job and if we as the general public paid what we owe these people would not have to call us, so if you get a call from such people be polite and respectful. As for Tyrone 10/10 and if you ever fancy a quite life in the Isle of Wight, I have a company here and I would offer you a job in my business.

Got a random (incredibly cryptic and suspicious) letter completely out of the blue despite there being absolutely no way that I could ever have any debt with any company (being too young for that) - still caused me to spend the entire weekend stressing out, only to call them and get told they must have got the wrong person and that my details would be removed from their system and goodbye.They should really do more in depth checks on who they're sending letters to in the future, rather than contacting random people who have no relation to the area they're investigating but who might, possibly, potentially have a similar name to who they're tracking down. It seems like a very unprofessional way to manage a business like this, honestly.The only good thing to say about all of this is that the phone call was quickly managed, and once we'd established that I'd never lived in the area in question, I was apologised to and told that I wouldn't be contacted again. Let's hope that holds true!

Today I spoke with Alex from GDR, he was kind, professional and was not condesending. He quickly understood, discussed my situation and offered 3 different kinds of help!Having spoken with other debt recovery agencies in the past - THIS ONE TOPS THE LOT!
