The Heroine of Dunkirk, a true historic icon in Gillingham. Situated just off Pier Road, close by the ASDA super store.

Hard to believe, but this amazing Paddle Steamer, Took part in Operation Dynamo, making a record 7 trips and rescuing 7000 men in the evacuation of Dunkirk, Slowly being restored now, Some wonderful volunteers, gave us the history of ship in visitors centre, followed by a tour on board, All this for £5 and valid for 12 months, children free, With so much history, well worth spending a couple of hours looking round her.

What a great experience with a great guide called Jo. Well worth a visit and let's hope they get the funds to keep this part of history alive. We'll done to all concerned.

Had an amazing morning looking round the visitors centre and the old paddle steamer. It has an amazing history which is explained so well and passionately explained by the enthusiastic volunteers. There is a really moving story about the boat's exploits in Dunkirk and also in evacuating children early in WW2. So much work has been done but there is still so much to do. Wish I could win the lottery and I would pay for its total renovation. It is only open on Saturdays but well worth a visit. Only a fiver each and the ticket lasts for a year...

Happy childhood Days back in 1950s wen I lived in Tankerton Kent.Remember so well the day trips to Southend from Herne Bay pier that was.Also I remember seeing her in the 1980s being used as a Night Club on the Isle of Wight she sertenity looked so sad then.But now wow what a lovely site to see.One never knows I get a trip up Thames one with God's Will.Well done everyone for time spent and the money Given for such Grand job done on a wonderful priceless piece of history.Thanks Guys.

A beautiful boat and they really look after her , a lot of beautiful history, a lovely sight to see in Gillingham.
