Really disappointed. When booking we said we were looking forward to their roast beef Sunday lunch…. on arrival we were informed there was no roast beef!… and the only meat choice on the menu was gammon - which obviously we didn’t want - so we sharpishly left for somewhere more welcoming!

Called in for lunch last week and it was an absolute delight. A very warm welcome was followed by prompt service and a desire to please. The gluten free fish and chips was the best my wife has eaten, and my burger was excellent. This is a hidden gem, and we will be back.

Superbly enjoyable stay at this charming inn. Very friendly welcome from the staff, lovely clean and charming rooms (pleasant view from the Welcombe room). Great food and a good choice of ales and wines at reasonable prices. Lovely quiet location, ideal for walkers. We'll definitely be back and have already recommended to friends and family.

The chap who was there when we arrived didn't even welcome us...shouldn't be in hospitality. Room very small and low ceiling where husband hit his head. Food ok but about 4 choices weren't available. Bfast and the lady who served..very nice. Limited on selection.

Bank holiday weekend and we needed a place to eat on Sunday evening - a quick Google turned up The Old Smithy Inn and a call reserved a table. When we arrived there was a live music session on the go and the kids found it a bit noisy inside as our table was next to the music, a quick chat to the staff and we hopped outside to a pod. Ordering was easy, food arrived quickly and tasted great. Rattler Cider recommended by the staff was super and I'd go there again in a heartbeat for a meal and the general atmosphere.

We came to stay at the smithy inn for the bank holiday on august the 26th-29th to enjoy a relaxing weekend away.Traveled from Birmingham to The smithy Inn which took 4 hours which we were completely fine with as we were excited for our stay.However when arrived we were shown to our room which looked very cosy and cute, but we went to use the toilet and found there to be a non pleasant smell & also a very noticeable amount of pubic look hair on the towel rack that had not been cleaned.We were sadly disappointed in this so we decided to leave and find somewhere else. However when going to approach the hotel owner about the issue , he was very rude towards my partner and almost aggressive and left us very upset and disappointed.

A great place with a very warm welcome. We have been on holiday and The Old Smithy Inn was yards from our cottage. The food was lovely and the service was excellent. We went for evening drinks, Sunday lunch and also a very enjoyable folk group evening. If we are that way again we will definitely be visiting.

Can't comment about the rooms as we only called in for a beer or three. The staff were very friendly and attentive with nothing too much trouble. Real Cornish ales very reasonably priced. Whilst there we had a look at the menu, which again looked very good with a price point to match. The beer garden was pleasant out in the sunshine with live music a bonus. All in all, I was very impressed and glad we found it and would definitely return if ever in the vicinity again. If you fancy just a drink or something to eat, certainly recommend it, and if you have a dog, then they are also very welcome.
