Spanish for Fun Leeds and Rothwell

Joined Steve's group earlier in the year and now on beginers 3. Classes are carefully structured and enjoyable whilst always providing time for discusion and questions. Steve always provides useful input and stretch at each session and suggestions to further expand learning. Classes can also be fun as a group gets to know each other. Steve takes time to check out where each individual is at and to encourage them

After spending over a year on duo lingo and just not really getting anywhere, I decided to take the plunge and find a real teacher. Since starting lessons with Steve, my Spanish has come on a lot and it's great to be able to see myself improving week by week. Thanks a lot Steve!

I've always wanted to learn Spanish, but always found it hard through various formats. However, Steve is different, his approach and structure to the sessions really simplifies and breaks down Spanish to make it easy to understand and follow. He often draws from his own experiences and makes us feel at ease, whilst challenging us at the same time. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Steve to anyone who wants to learn Spanish in a structured, easy to follow, fun and collaborative environment.

I am really enjoying my Spanish lessons with Steve. He makes them fun and not overwhelming. Steve speaks to us in Spanish enough for us to get used to hearing it without expecting us to follow everything he says. The main instructions for beginners are in English so we can understand what is going on and what the expectations of the class are. I particularly wanted to go to an in-person class and this one is the perfect size and a great location. I appreciate that the materials are available online if you have to miss a class so you don't miss out on the main teachings of the lesson. I'm looking forward to the next block of classes. I joined the beginners class for a 10 week block to keep my mind active following retirement. I expected the class to be full of oldies like me but was really pleased to join a mixed bunch of people of all ages. Our tutor, Steve Hodgson, makes the classes fun - using his experiences of living in Spain to add colour and flavour to the class. I like it because we are learning properly" - ensuring we cover verbs and tenses rather than just learning rote phrases. Steve is passionate about the Spanish language, and helping others to learn it, and this always comes across in his sessions, which are challenging but fun. Steve draws on his own experiences and language learning journey, to encourage others to follow his path. It isn't easy, but Steve knows that, and always provides encouragement and confidence.

Steve's Spanish lessons are brilliant! He is approachable and friendly and makes each lesson really good fun. His teaching style is great and also the format of each lesson, focusing on reading, writing and speaking Spanish. I like at the end of each lesson we have an opportunity for Spanish conversations with our peers. I feel I have learnt a lot. Beginners 1 has been so good, we've signed up already for Beginners 2!

Steve is friendly, welcoming and put me at ease immediately. The lessons are well structured with lots of practise in reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are extra events such as tapas or trips to apply what we've learned. I've really enjoyed the class so far and the other students have become friends. I definitely recommend the programme.

Steve is a fantastic teacher. He is patient, knowledgable and always goes the extra mile to ensure his students understand the lessons. The lessons are interactive and are pitched at the right level so you learn without being overwhelmed. I have and would continue to recommend Steve as a Spanish teacher.
