Europcar East Midlands Airport

Not good when they try to sell you the excess cover when you have it sorted with the third party. It’s cheaper to book through carjet and have their cover but europa insist you take their cover too.

Very experienced user of H'cars but this was my first time with Europcar. A smooth process from beginning to end but I have one suggestion for a significant viz, on return the car should be inspected in front of you and not after you have left. I (and most customers) will happily a wait short while as you make a staff member available and it only takes a couple of minutes . Many negative reviews reported about hire car companies centre on mysterious" damage recorded after the car has been returned and there's a simple remedy to this. These practices vary from location to location and I often have to insist that the car is declared damage free when I return it. In short

Although it was a surprise to discover that Europcar also operated Keddy we experienced excellent customer service. However, given I am a privilege member it was disappointing to discover that I could rent it significantly cheaper through a third party in this case Expedia.

The booking web site was clear and easy to navigate, once booked the collection and drop off at East Midlands airport was also an easy process helped by the desk clerk. The car was a couple of years old and did have a few scratches and marks which were noted on the paperwork, having said that it was a good car and for the price of the car hire it represented good value for money.

Brilliant experience with Europcar. My booking was made through Doyouspain and the car was excellent, clean and valeted when I picked it up. The staff were polite and very helpful and I'm so pleased with my them.

When I made my booking I was charged £52.44 for insurance. When I arrived at your desk I was told that my booking didn't have insurance on it and asked if I would like to purchase some. I told the girl I was sure I paid for insurance but she was adamant there was none on the reservation so I took her word for it and bought the insurance, a further £93.98. I explained to the two guys I was travelling with that their share would have to go up another £31 each as we had to have insurance and they agreed. When I arrived home I checked my emails and credit card statement only to find that I had taken insurance out at the booking stage and I had been charged a second lot of insurance at the desk. I called a friend who works in the hire car trade and he told me that I should not have paid either insurances as the booking was made on my credit card so I was already insured.

Staff were rude and dismisive. I rented a mid range car today and it had an overpowering smell of disinfectent. (its the second time I've rented a car from this office with the same issue) When I complained to the staff member he wasn't at all interested to help and he pretended he couldn't smell it and was extremely rude and dismisive. I'd advise to rent from a different outlet at East Midlands unless you enjoy driving around in car that stinks.
