Forts are not our thing.... but this one has more to offer than most of them combined. Great site and lovely coastal walks. Lots to learn. Superb

Went to the family Christmas event. Was great. Fairly buggy friendly. Some bits disabled friendly. Lovely history and lots to learn for all ages. Really friendly staff. Bit expensive for the shop and tearoom and the food was cold.Disabled parking, toilets were portaloos... kids loved it.

This is a most interesting fort that has been part of Britain’s defences for hundreds of years. By listening to the audio recording that was freely available, I discovered so much about the history of this amazing defensive structure. It certainly isn’t a beautiful fort but is highly functional s and has been rebuilt so many times to serve the needs of the country in various wars.

Landguard Fort is a remarkable attraction in Felixstowe, Suffolk. Its history spans centuries, and the fort remains a testament to the importance of naval defense. The grounds have been restored and maintained, making it a great place to explore. The fort itself is an impressive structure, with thick walls and impressive cannons. The views of the sea are also stunning, and the fort provides a great vantage point for spotting wildlife. Inside the fort, there are exhibits and activities to participate in. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they are happy to answer any questions. Overall, a visit to Landguard Fort is a great way to learn about the history of naval defense and enjoy a unique and memorable experience.

Landguard Fort
Pleasantly surprised how big this place was and how much history is there! A few interactive sections which was great for the kids and the reenactment for apothecary store was wonderful! Staff were friendly and there seemed to be some sections which were accessible for wheelchairs too. Definitely recommend

On a day out with the kids we took a gamble on taking them to Landguard Fort, I say a gamble as we are never sure which way things will go with them - on this occasion, thankfully, all went well!!There is a pay and display car park opposite the Fort, and tickets for the Fort can be purchased just as you go in. We paid a couple of quid extra for the jurassic trail to keep the kids entertained, but that chap also gave them some audio trail devices that also kept them busy (yes - that surprised me too!)The Fort has a fairly well laid out route through the lower and upper sections, and it gives you a good feel for how the Fort was used over the years - some rooms were done up really well, others less so. The route finishes in the inner courtyard area where there is a little shop and cafe. Toilets are there but fairly basic (and there are plenty of signs asking you not to use the old 1914 ones!!)As you leave there is also an extra room to your right, dont miss it (we almost did) there is a uniform kids can try on and some 'voices' stories that call you on the telephone! Our visit was probably about 2 hours in length, we possibly would have stayed a tad longer had it not been raining! An informative place to visit - with some great views out!

Loved it, highly recommenda visit it's absolutely worth it. Thought we'd be spending about an hour or so going round but actually it has loads to offer with fun facts, steeped in history and interactive features, and before we knew it we had been here for about 3-4 hours and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

What a great museum. Having the audio tour (which is included in the admission fee) was fantastic, or you can just read the boards yourself. And for just £7, it is the best value place we have experienced for a very long time. (Have campervan, Do Travel alot). 5* attraction.

Part of English Heritage so if you're a member entrance is free. You can download an app for a free audio tour, which tells you about the forts' interesting history. Wheelchair accessible on the lower level only, although beware the floor surfaces do vary and some are easier to navigate than others. We spent about 2 hours exploring the tunnels and various rooms with reconstructed scenes and taking photographs along the way. There is a nice little 1940s cafe on site for refreshments. Afterwards, we walked a couple of minutes to a beach area/nature reserve that runs alongside the Fort, which finished our day perfectly. Pay and display car park opposite site entrance.
