The technology is incredible with regards to functionality, weight, design and versatility of the multiple cover designs.Having not had a prosthetic for over 16 years, I was highly sceptical that I would even be able to operate in myoelectric prosthetic, particularly when the NHS told me that there wasn’t enough signal in the area of my limb difference. The Technician, took this as a challenge and was totally confident that there would be away for me to operate the Hero Arm. In less than two hours the technician had achieved his goal and I had for the first time in 16 years operated a hand via my limb difference.Open Bionics have given me a level of independence back that I had once lost. This has had a positive impact on my family and my calling as a Priest. My Hero Arm as quickly become part of my identity and feels natural with regards to operating the hand. Open Bionics worked closely with me to start a GoFundMe campaign for one of their 3D printed Hero Arms when my United States insurance company would not assist. I spoke with multiple representatives from their company about my experience, & each of them made me feel heard & validated in my needs for a new prosthesis. For my fitting journey they worked with a prosthetic clinic that was unfamiliar with fitting the Hero Arm, & that process was smooth & stress free as well. The team truly cares about the users needs & wants. The Hero Arm has changed my life in terms of function & mobility, making every day tasks so much easier. My self image & esteem have increased as well, due to the unique look & design of the Hero Arm. One of the values of Open Bionics is making users feel empowered & proud of their prosthesis, & they continue to advocate for body positivity, especially in children. Open Bionics has also proven to be advocates of equitable access to bionic devices, pushing barriers & engaging the limb different community & insurance companies. Another way Open Bionics is revolutionizing the prosthetic industry is by offering transparency in pricing packages for their Hero Arms & looking for ways to drive down costs. It can be very stressful 'shopping' for a new prosthesis, especially when the manufacturer doesn't offer an estimated price. After following Open Bionics for around 5 years and suffering increasing pain while using my old prosthetic arm I finally decided to take the plunge and contact them to see if I would be a suitable candidate for the Hero Arm.That was the best decision I've ever made!The whole journey from the initial phone call and crowdfunding help, through to the fitting appointments and opportunities to be involved with the hero arm community has been wonderful. At the time of writing it's 9 months since I collected my hero arm and, while it instantly became a part of me (and the most comfortable prosthetic limb I've worn in over 40 years), I now feel that I'm a part of the Open Bionics family. These talented and compassionate people really listen to their clients and move mountains to ensure your hero arm is as in-tune with you and your personality as it can possibly be.Oh, and that pain I used to have? It's gone.

Five of our Team LimbBo Children now have Hero Arms. As well as helping them in practical ways, the boost this has given to their self esteem is immeasurable. Open Bionics has always been mindful of our children's needs and has engaged them fully in the process of obtaining their arms. This has had a 'knock on effect' for our younger children who are mesmerised by the older ones wearing their hero arms at events.Open Bionics has always been approachable and has listened to any suggestions that we have made - we can't wait for more of our children to receive an arm and look forward to future projects

The control of the movement is very impressive. It’s strong, slick and not to heavy.
