The Bridge Inn
Lovely pub by the riverside, in the perfect location for a mid-walk lunch. Good selection of food on the menu and the dishes we had were very tasty and well-sized. The staff were friendly and the service was very laid back, so not a place for anyone with limited time. It's the kind of place you could spend a whole afternoon relaxing the sun in the back beer garden area!

Visited just after their refurb, couldn't fault anything at all, food was excellent, service excellent and the venue is excellent. Highly recommended.

After popping here for a drink one evening, my partner and I returned to have some lunch. It was terribly disappointing. It was empty inside which was perfect for us but as soon as I asked for menus they were making excuses on how they’ve just had a busy breakfast morning so to bear with them… after a long wait for food which was just a sandwich and a prawn starter, it came out looking chucked together and pretty sad, minimal (frozen) chicken in the blt, lukewarm chips, overcooked tiger prawns. There was clearly no love in the cooking or presentation. It’s a real shame as the pub is in an outstanding setting with great look and feel. But service (lack of) and food lets it down. There’s never anyone at the bar waiting to serve customers either. And in the time we were there another couple complained and cancelled a simple latte they had ordered ages before which also seemed to be taking ridiculous amount of time to come out. Only positive is the shift manager did apologise and listen to our feed back and took one of the meals off the bill. I can’t fault her handling to the complaint. But the chefs and quality control of food and service definitely let the team down.

Food service was slow - 45 mins from ordering to delivery and no mention of delays when ordering and no apologies when the food finally arrived. We only ordered starters, which were on the small side even for starters, a half of cider and a pint of Pironi. The bill came to £22 - the Pironi was £6.10 for a pint! That's London prices, not country pub prices.

Really beautiful country pub right by the river. Lovely inside and outside - very country feel since and large outdoor area for when the weather is great.Came here for the Easter prix fix menu and the choices were good. We ordered a variety and it was all lipsmacking good.Highly recommend the Korean BBQ wings and the pork belly main. Perfectly cooked.Desserts were incredible. Got the Plum panacotta - do not miss. Will be back again !

Just had a lovely lunch in the newly refurbished Bridge . Loved this place before even better now . The garden area has had a fabulous refurb with glass covered pergolas, heating and lights. Good choice of food which was excellent so is the service. A very enjoyable lunch and good disabled access to all areas for my wheelchair bound Aunt. Will be back again soon .

We and our friends regularly travel 30 miles from opposite directions to meet up for a meal and catch up. We chose the Bridge years ago and have been enjoying our visit ever since. The staff are very friendly and welcoming; they always look after us. I have been a little critical of the food. It was good during our last visit but could have been a little better had there been less fat on the smothered chicken bacon and the chips less crispy. Despite this minor comment we will be back again for sure.

Just had lunch here and it was absolutely superb. We were worried after reading a review that the menu was limited prior to a refit but it was a full menu with specials. We both had pie (one chicken and ham one steak and ale) and they were delicious with lots of filling, and tasty veg. Glad we squeezed in a pudding as that was scrummy too. Brilliant friendly service too. They are having a refit soon and will definitely be back to see how it looks! Thank you for a lovely 'date lunch'!

Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. Very underwhelming and disappointing experience. We arrived at 7.40 pm and asked if the kitchen was still cooking. The server checked with the kitchen and said as long as we were OK to sit in the bar and not the dining area, then yes.The menu looked really impressive. So far, so good. I ordered the 3 meats roast and my wife the 7-hour slow-cooked rib of beef. We were asked if we would like cauliflower cheese or pigs-in-blanket. I thought, That’s good they are offering us a choice, we discussed the options, and both opted for the cauliflower cheese. (Spoiler Alert!!!)The Harry’s & Hanson bitter was very nice and refreshing as we explored the massive garden. The setting is lovely. The pub was quiet and after a reminder, 40 minutes later our meals arrived without the cauliflower cheese. Where to start? The rib of beef was delicious and hot straight out of its vacuum pack. Both meals were cold/lukewarm.The three meats were tough and so inedible that I left the beef (I never leave anything!), the potatoes were small, looked as if they had been “ducked” in the duck fat with no change of colour to indicate roasting and were swimming in thin gravy that should have been served at the side to prevent everything turning soggy. The Yorkshire puddings were soggy without assistance from the gravy. Both plates had mountains of peas, three bits of cold carrot and overcooked warm broccoli. Maybe the gravy was meant to heat up the dinners? Then 10 minutes after we had received our meals, the cauliflower arrived. This is the worst cauliflower cheese I have ever been served. It was boiled cauliflower (admittedly it was al dente not mushy) in a thin white sauce that had no cheese flavour, it had not been browned under the grill and was topped with dried parsley. It was as tasteless as the potatoes. The meal was accompanied by economy cash and carry thin horseradish sauce. The Front of House staff were polite, but why did they just not say:” Sorry, we have sold out of the roasts, but the rest of the menu is available”???It was very obvious that no one wanted to collect our plates and ask if our meal was OK, so no one did. When we came to pay, we found out that the cauliflower cheese was an extra, but it was not made clear when it was offered. It sounded like it was part of the meal and turned out to be £2.49 x 2 extra and we refused to pay for it. It was removed from our bill. However, It must be said that without it, our Sunday roasts at £17.29 and £15.29 would have had vegetables comprising of copious peas, two bits of carrot and two florets of mushy broccoli. The puddings looked great, we were going to order two, instead of sharing one to watch our waste lines. No chance!AVOID until the management starts understanding and acting on their bad reviews. Some of the kitchen team need re-training. The vacancy board outside the pub says it all. Advice from here: close the kitchen on the nights you can’t offer what you are advertising. Stop under-delivering to customers.Apologetic Front of House team, lovely setting, wonderful refit… SHAME
