I cannot speak highly enough of Phil. He is extremely knowledgeable and capable of teaching any style of music. This, coupled with his patient approach, makes him the ideal teacher. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anybody.

I’ve been with a Phil for a couple of years now, started as a beginner and feel I have made good progress with his help. I’ve watch tuition videos on you tube but you cannot beat being in a room with a person who can answer questions and give you tips to improve.Phil understands my musical tastes and tailors the lessons around it.Highly recommend.

I bought a banjo as my Lockdown project, having never played any instrument at all, and soon realised that Youtube was only going to get me so far. Phil is the perfect tutor for the beginner (I'm sure for more advanced players too), as he's patient, understanding where you might be having difficulties and only moves on to the next step when he's sure you have a good grip onthings. Importantly, he teaches the fundamentals of the instrument first - chords, finger-picking rolls etc - rather than song-by-song, so that by the time you get to play a tune you can hear the sequences and chord patterns previously learned - thereby building a solid foundation to your playing. You'll have fun doing it, too.

I've been a student of Phil's for the past couple of years. which has changed my playing immensely - I only wish I had started my lessons when I was much younger instead of 62!!!!
