The staff at Unicity Medical Centre are extremely helpful. They have all taken great care of me. The doctors are kind and knowledgeable and have referred me to St Mary’s and QA hospitals. The receptionists and other nursing staff are courteous and helpful. I have never had to wait too long for an appointment. I recommended the practice to a friend and is really impressed by how he has been treated.

I am a foreign student and I just called because I have been sick for a few days with throat pain and fever, the unempathetic receptionist told me that maybe a pharmacy could help me and she hang up quickly. She has refused to book an appointment with the doctor. I’m registered to this Medical Centre. It’s so embarrassing

Wrong information given from first receptionist, calling back next day was put on list for duty doctor. Doctor called quickly and spent time understanding the issue. Amazing service as usual. Thank you

Disgraceful. After suffering the barage of obstacles against actual human contact I was offered the opportunity to call back the next morning for a physio appointment or between 6 am and 8 am complete an e consult form. I attended a 'drop in' service the same day and its a good job I did. I have a splint on my wrist and a severe infection which almost landed me in QA on intravenous penicillin. But, well done to the receptionist for preventing me from getting an appointment and for incorrectly diagnosing my injury which potentially could have been life changing if not treated.

I express my deep concern about a recent experience I had when seeking an emergency appointment. I believe it is crucial to bring this matter to your attention for the sake of patient care and adherence to NHS guidelines.Today I called the clinic with an urgent matter concerning [bleeding]. Unfortunately, the receptionist I spoke with did not seem to grasp the urgency of the situation. Despite the nature of my concern, I was given an appointment for the next 10 days.My understanding, based on information available on the NHS website, is that GPs are expected to see patients with urgent matters on the same day. I was surprised and distressed to be offered an appointment with such a significant delay.I kindly request that you investigate this matter to ensure that the protocols for handling emergency appointments are followed appropriately. It is essential for patient well-being that urgent cases are given the attention they deserve in a timely manner…

My first visit 7/12/23 and I was pleased with the session, the clarity of diagnosis, and the forward plan. I e-consulted on 30/11/23 so this was timely. A good resource Thank You.

So impressed by this surgery and so glad I switched to it. The facilities are great and the staff friendly and helpful. It’s a real joy to be treated as an intelligent human, a basic need which is so often sadly lacking in GP practices in my experience. It may not be the nearest for me but it’s by far the best. I’m very happy with my choice.

I have been a patient of this practice since it was located at the Nuffield Building in 2015. I am fortunate enough that I don't often need to speak to the visit the office. When I have, the staff have been lovely. It's a shame then, in the last two days, the service from multiple reception staff has been simply awful, misleading, and less than compassionate. Getting an appointment for something I am literally crying in agony about having taken an over the counter painkiller has been treated with suspicion, disdain, and scorn. It's almost impossible to see a professional here yet the reception staff apparently have facility to criticise you for 'not seeing someone sooner' (as if I could have done at this rate!), continuously describe things as 'obviously' (nothing about the processes here are obvious, also hence why I am calling in the first place), lie about when you should call to get a duty appointment, get frustrated when you can't identify where pain might be coming from (that's why I need to see the healthcare professional), and treat you without any dignity or respect. I would not wish this pain on anyone yet I'm not viewed as a patient, a customer, or a human being, just an interruption to someone's day. I see I'm not the only one here who has a problem with this part of the practice. Another 21 reviews at the time of this review mention 'receptionist' as an issue. If anyone knows how to complain about this practice to the PCT let me know as it's not fit for purpose and I will be pursuing this with the same aggression I was treated with this morning.

Moved to ports for uni and moved to this medical centre. First appointment for my new patient health check was great, nurse was lovely. Needed an asthma review as my old nurse didn't take it seriously and cancelled my inhaler prescription. Booked one and then had it cancelled by the surgery and they rebooked it for half term when I was at home. I cancelled it and said I'd sort it when I got back to portsmouth. Couldn't get through so waited a week or so and then tried again and today and was told there are no asthma reviews for weeks and to try again in a few weeks. The receptionist gave me no advice or anything. This is a breathing condition that affects me, which is getting worse and worse and no one takes it seriously so now I'm stuck with an expired inhaler and no appointment for at least 3 weeks, when I'll be home for christmas anyway. Should've stuck with my GP at home. No use moving to this one.

Joined the surgery after spending many months looking for one who were taking on new patients. Can’t fault them! Even invited me and just to meet the doctor and have a check up, not used to receiving a proactive approach by the NHS but it was greatly welcomed.
