Surface is great and the nets are also tight and fresh. Only downside is it's super popular, wait times can be over an hour for a court on a good day. Pack a picnic blanket and some snacks if you're heading down on a sunny day.

Relatively cheap tennis courts and conveniently located for Jubilee line. Glad they introduced a fee last year because when the slots were free, some people were for sure trying to outsmart the system and book it with a bot. It would be nice if they put coded gate access similar to the one they have at Tanner Str courts to keep the freeloaders away and sort out the double-booking issues. There are no flood lights, which is a downside, but then the park closes at dusk, so I guess there is not much that can be done about it.

I originally rated this 5 stars but had to amend my review because the courts are no longer turn up and play.In the past, playing on the weekend meant hanging out at the park with other tennis players and waiting an hour or two.Now it's practically impossible to get a court - you'll need to write a bot to book courts because otherwise it's going to be impossible to get one.Massive downgrade and has killed the sense of community (imho)

This park used to be nice but as a person walking there dog it is a nightmare as you have people that feel the need to empty their rubbish or food waste in the park as they think there feeding the birds and foxes but there not the dogs are eating it and this makes it so hard for the owners I've been walking around this park for over 30years and it's only in the last couple of years it's got worse, this is an example of what I have to dill with on a daily basis someone as put aload of dry food down, then slices of bread are thrown in the park, then another feeder walks in and empty a bag of food waste, then just as I'm walking out the park another feeder walks in with a rucksack and emptys rice all over the cricket area the thing is this upset the dogs and I don't know what's in that food I wish people would not do it. It's also makes the park not nice.

It is an amazing place, although rules had changed. - for better- . Now you do not have to wait in line waiting for your turn. Instead there is an online booking system, which helps to keep the social distance and to arrive on time, so you do not have to waiste your time waiting. Nice place, nice area, nice hard courts.

Just be aware that these courts are no longer free at all. They aren't expensive, (I think about £4 per hour) but you need to book them and receive a code which gets you entry. Please note that they also have opening hours which, in winter, go well after dark - so be careful, as booking the court at 5:30pm in December will give rise to a pretty difficult game of tennis by night....

After figuring out the rules set by the regular players, and overlooking the fact that you might need to wait about 90 minutes to get a court (who cares as long as you are in a beautiful park?!) we really enjoyed our FREE one hour tennis session. FYI it's an hour for everyone in order to keep the rotation going. Sharing is caring, peeps! ;)

Southwark Park Tennis Courts were the only courts where you did not have to spend time registering and booking in advance, you could just turn up at the time you wanted, you queued and then you played. Now you are following 1000s of all other tennis courts in London that people have to book. The whole beauty of Southwark park tennis courts was the fact you did not need to book. People who want certainty have a choice of all the other tennis courts in London they can book. You have just taken away the only tennis courts that did not require booking. The booking system favours those who know the exact time when new slots are posted and those who know their schedules well in advance. It requires logging into the website regularly and checking if slots become available. As to the rest of us... Im not sure what to do, its obviously fully booked, now that I've wasted my time registering my details online. Now that the restrictions are lifted, I would kindly ask Council to remove the booking system and be more inclusive.

Nice courts in Southwark Park. Must be booked online. Around £4 per half hour. The courts have just had been done up although I think all that has been done is a nice paint job.Court is concrete so quite bouncy.

Southwark Park tennis court is a gem! Although it can be challenging to book due to its popularity, the recent renovation has made it an excellent spot for playing tennis. The court is in great condition, and the surrounding park adds to the enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be returning for more matches.
