Shanghai 1814 Restaurant
It was the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. They had a great selection of food and drinks and great portion sizes. The servers were amazing. I loved every bite. It was definitely worth the price. The decor was brilliant and beautiful to see. I will be returning again for more memories and special occasions.

Not safe for any allergy sufferer! Do not eat here if you do.Despite clearly informing the staff of a peanut allergy, and checking multiple times, twice food was provided with peanut sauce, and by sheer luck it wasn’t consumed both times. I was unable to finish my food out of fear and a lack of trust with the restaurant.The food quality was good overall though, and the atmosphere is great, however it is understandably expensive.

Me and my wife went for our 17th wedding anniversary last night and had an amazing time food was delicious and the service was first class with a great atmosphere. We will be going again . Thanks you for making our anniversary meal feel special.

A wonderful restaurant in Southampton to have very well cooked Chinese cuisines.All those dishes I ordered were delicious. Especially the traditional Peking roast duck (1814 signature) is superb.It has nice private dining rooms, advanced booking recommended.Located in central Southampton, very near to major car park, and walking distance from historical attractions.

We absolutely loved our late lunch/ dinner experience in this restaurant. We odered omnivore set menu for two people for £45pp, with various meats options, vegetables and egg fried rice. The food was very fresh and full of colour, cooked just right. We were also pleasantly surprised with the size of the portions which was just right too! In addition, need to mention the nice atmosphere and beautiful interior, all restaurant is decorated with sakura tree blossoms. Maybe the service could be improved since it felt a bit too long waiting times between different courses even though it wasn’t busy, but overall we had a great time!

This reminds me of the restaurants I visited in Beijing with the private dining rooms along the side. The food is excellent. The service tries to be really good but sometimes slips up when the staff get distracted. We went for lunch and were only given the a la carte menu, luckily we knew there was a lunch menu because we had checked the website before going. Booking was really effective via the website.Yes, it is expensive but the quality of the food is excellent so I don't begrudge it and will save up and go for special occasions.The decor is very glam but quite fun - don't miss out a visit to the loos.Give it a go!

Generally- beautifully made for your eyes and heart, guess the price you pay isn’t just for food which is fear. Under our situation 2 ppl couldn’t make it, with reasons be, try cancel the 2 ppl meals wear told no you can take the left over home. Well how about to have for the ppl who can make it- daaa. Anyway at the end we wear charger full extra 90quid for the two didn’t made - in my opinion it’s a scammer shouldn’t be like that. We had a karaoke after our meal 2of the person had paid a deposit and wasn’t able to make was refused to return deposit, even we had good number in for besides 2 ppl down. Staff spill a sauce on my dress ignored, trip a wine glass and spilled say sorry but hardly could hear it. Didn’t event wipe the spill wine. The situation you pay so much already they insist to pay for cancelation in full, it’s not that they wear inform on arrival but in advance excuse was food is preordered - what you tell me you prepped for days before ?So mix feelings really. Will I go again. Don’t think so not on those terms.This two pic meals meant to be shared between 4 not a lot for £45 pp, there was also a beef but I mean in chicken dish I found more pineapple than chicken.Judge it yourself

The best Chinese restaurant I've ever been in. Really lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive and delicious food, quite different to any other Chinese I've visited. The desserts and teas are good too.I would have given 5 stars but we were disappointed to be told we needed to purchase a pot of tea per person at £6.50, and wouldn't let us share, one pot is easily enough for at least 2.We had spent a lot on our meal.However over all a lovely evening and would return.
