Evans Cycles

Last minute help required to get my smart turbo setup properly. The guys were straight into the job and couldn’t have been more helpful - hugely appreciated. Would absolutely recommend using this store.

I'm pleased to see the store move to a rather empty Union street and like to support local stores. However, Evans are doing a few things that mean I may shop online or elsewhere:1) I ordered some parts that I ended up not needing. I tried to cancel the order for a refund, but the policy is that you'll be offered a voucher for in-store purchases (refunds only for online purchases, which is driven by a legal requirement). This is fair enough and I just used the voucher for something else, but incentivises online shopping to give greater flexibility. I politely mentioned the worse return policy for in store items would put me off buying in store, in the hope of giving useful feedback. The response from the guy serving me was short and defensive...customer service matters!2) I ordered something for click-and-collect and was charged ~£5 for delivery to the store. Why am I being charged delivery for an item I'm picking up in store!The above two points mean I may shop elsewhere in future, though for simple stuff I'll likely still use Evans for the convenience; it is nice to have a bike store in the centre of town.

I came into the shop with a broken rear wheel and was immediately helped exceptionally well. Extremely great experience with this bike shop and its dedicated young staff. Thank you so much. I left the store as a happy person.

I bought my bicycle and almost all my gear from Evans. Excellent service every single time. Very experienced staff always looking to improve cycling experience.Went in there today for some enquiry and ended up with a well tuned bike. Thank you David and Scot. Although I didnt overtake any cars, it was a much more enjoyable ride back home.

Put my bike in to have them put new bar tape on, I supplied the bar tape. Charged £40 for labour, I regret not asking how much I'd be charged in advance, my own fault I guess. Won't be going back

AVOID - I went into store to order a bike, and extras, I was told that the order had gone through, and most importantly it would be here ready for my child's forthcoming birthday. I received confirmation via email that the order was being processed, then nothing, I got in touch with them 2 weeks later and it took half an hour online to be told they would look into it. 5 days later nothing. I get in touch and they cancelled the order. Apparently it was an IT error on my order ???? they ordered it !!! the email told me I would receive a refund in 2 - 5 working days, but when I called I found out this was a lie..... you don't get a refund, you would have to go into the shop to get that ? that is a deliberate misrepresentation in an email, so that they may financially benefit by withholding funds. They cant say that they aren't financially benefitting from this sort of misrepresentation, as this will add up over the numerous customers they have lied to about when they expect a refund.....Not sure if I had just ordered it myself online whether it would of turned up at all.

I had to change my bike tyres and inner tubes which resulted in 4 hours of frustration at home. That lead to me desperately calling Evans who told me to pop right away so they could have a crack at it.5minutes later i was at the store. The two guys, whos names i stupidly never asked, were excellent. One of them fitted the tyres in 15minutes despite saying they were the most difficult tyres that he has fitted.Over all they were both extremely helpful, friendly and not only that, saved me heaps of time. I couldn't speak more highly of them both.Great job! (P.s. probably buy different tyres!)

I can't praise my experience here highly enough.I had a problem with my Specialized Emtb which I hadn't bought from Evans Cyles, but this was not an issue.They were very profesional and polite thoughout the whole process. The fault was diagnosed, and a replacement part ordered, within a week I was back in the saddle.A BIG Hats off" to Andy who kept me updated on the repair

Worst customer service ever. Took £1,000 twice out of two separate accounts of mine, then cancelled the transaction both times and left me with £2,000 unavailable funds and no bike. When one bank could not make the funds available to me without a letter from Evans Cycles… customer service claimed they couldn’t do it. At the same time the store had told me they couldn’t do it either and the store phone number doesn’t even connect. So I’m left on holiday with next to zero funds after having all my stuff, including a bike, stolen two weeks ago.. and all they can do is say sorry. The reason they cancelled the transaction is because it went through with a signature and not a pin. Really poor performance. If they mandate a pin, they should make sure that their systems do not put through and accept a non pin transaction
