St Mary's Church, Walton

An interesting exterior with a tower in two parts, the building itself was not open when we visited. The overall impression is of a well maintained church and graveyard, the grass is neatly cut up to the memorials so you can walk around. Some patches of brambles.

Brilliant old church

St Mary's Church adjoins Walton's village green and and its modest disposition lends itself to an inclusive community which reminds me of former times when communities pulled together to sustain and care for their neighbourhood. In keeping with the community, the church is well cared for and affords a spacious interior which is well proportioned and pleasing on the eye. St. Mary's is an Anglican church in the Parish of Hethersgill, the Deanery of Brampton, and the Diocese of Carlisle
