I cannot recommend Mr Athanasiou enough. He took so much time with me. From the initial consultation, seeing me through my gall bladder removal operation to my follow up appointments afterwards. He was happy to answer any questions, was knowledgeable, making sure I had thorough information about my condition and the procedure I was having. He was very kind and reassuring. I am very grateful for his help and feel like a new person since my surgery!

Antonios is a marvellous surgeon, so kind, helpful and professional. He was so lovely to me during my initial consultatation, helped with problems getting my surgery booked and performed the surgery with tremendous success, leaving me back on my feet within a couple of days and able to go on holiday soon after. The best surgeon in the South of England for problems similar to mine!

On a social note, Mr Athanasiou was wonderful. On time, warm, friendly, funny, patient. I felt I had plenty of time for my questions. Also on my first visit, before we met, I saw him getting a coffee at reception and he spoke with all the staff there in a friendly way, just asking after them, etc., which seemed spontaneous and genuine.On a professional note, I had him for my gallbladder removal. Aside from the expected swelling/bloating for a few days, the usual tiredness, I had no pain whatsoever. I simply did not need pain relief. The scars are neatly done, and he said the sites were chosen to blend into the natural way my skin creases from where it folds when I bend or stretch.I can't recommend him enough.

I saw Mr Athanasiou early in 2023 to discuss a cholecystectomy. He was friendly and informative and provided me with all the information I needed in order to make a decision about surgery. He and his secretary Hayley were really helpful in arranging my appointments and surgery, accommodating my worries about recovery time and family/studying commitments.The surgery went really well and my recovery was very quick and painless. I had a great experience and would highly recommend Mr Athanasiou.

Mr Athanasiou put me at ease on my first meeting and the process from then until after surgery was carried out efficiently and pleasantly.It's clear that Mr Athanasiou enjoys his role, and he executes it professionally resulting in, in my case, a perfect medical outcome and an enjoyable experience.

Mr Athanasiou is an excellent and extremely dedicated surgeon with whom I feel very fortunate to have had my procedure. After the repair of hiatus hernia my symptoms have diminished considerably.

From the very first time I met MrAthanasiou I knew I that I would be in good hands to have my inguinal hernia operation. He has a warm and reassuring manner and is extremely professional. On the day of the operation he went over the procedure and put me at ease. Afterwards he explained what he had done and gave me comfort that all had gone well. He treats you with care and had taken the time to acquaint himself with my domestic situation, making me feel that he treats each patient on a very personal basis.He talks about his “team “ and it is obvious that this secretaries Hayley and Christina have great respect for him and they all work well together. If you find yourself in the situation where you need surgery I would certainly recommend seeking out Mr Athanasiou as you will not be disappointed. He obviously enjoys his work and this is obvious in his caring and attentive manner. I also would compliment the staff at the Montifore Hospital for their care and professionalism.

I went to see Mr Athanasiou in July regarding my inguinal hernia. I found him to have very friendly personality and easy going manner. He explained very clearly what needed to be done and the details of the procedure to be undertaken in September. All my questions were answered satisfactorily. Mr Anthanasiou came to see me prior to and following the procedure which went well. I was discharged four hours after the procedure. I experienced minimal discomfort and only needed to take Panadol for the first two days plus two Dihydrocodeine tablets at night. I saw Mr Anthanasiou in October where he explained that due to the size of the hernia, he had performed an open repair in order to fit a large mesh to minimize any chance of the hernia reoccurring. He was happy with my recovery.I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Anthanasiou for this procedure. Everyone that I met in Montefiore were very pleasant, helpful and professional.

I went to see Mr Athanasiou in June 2023, as I had an excruciating pain in my stomach caused by a hernia, that left me unable to stand most days. After my first consultation with him, I knew I would be in the right hands for the repair. Not only did Mr Athanasiou explain the whole procedure, he was professional and reassuring, as he could see I was very anxious having never had any type of surgery before. Since having the Umbilical hernia open repair in early Aug 2023, I am pain free and have even started running 4 weeks later. I cannot thank Mr Athanasiou enough and would have no hesitation in recommending him and his very efficient and professional team especially if, like me you are anxious or nervous about surgery.

Impressed with his explanations and information regarding the procedure so decided to go ahead at Nuffield Brighton.The operation was trickier than expected but Mr A. was excellent during and afterwards on the ward.Four weeks later a meeting to discuss progress which was very helpful.Would thoroughly recommend Mr A.’s professional approach and skill.
