Bolton Guitar Studio
I've been going to Simon at Bolton Guitar studio for quite a few years and would recommend him highly. If you want to learn to play Country, Simon's your man, if Rock is your bag, he's the one! Maybe you've heard John Williams or Julian bream play a delightful tune on Classic FM and wondered, How do they do that ? and you would you like to learn Classical guitar and learn how to read music, and perhaps go down the ABRSM ( Associated Board Royal School of Music route, then give Simon a ring and pay him a visit. Want to play lute, banjo, or even Ukulele? or it could be that you would just like to play along to your favourite tunes, the ones you have on CD or tape, but don't know where to begin, or you've hit a plateau with your playing, then get yourself along to Simon and he'll guide you every step of the way from being an average player to a very accomplished one!! From 9 yrs to 90 yrs its never too late ! Great advice, books and instruments from Bolton's finest!!

I have been with Simon (Bolton Guitar Studio) several years now and it is no understatement to say that under his guidance my playing has improved well beyond my expectations. Simon can, and will, teach any style (rock, classical, jazz, country, blues, etc) to the highest possible level (which is no mean feat) and therefore I have always felt confident that what he teaches is appropriate and meaningful to my goals.Simon's knowledge of musical theory is outstanding, and if this is important to you then you can be assured that he can guide you from humble beginnings (where it all feels so hard) to gaining a solid music theory background that will support and ultimately improve your playing. However, if getting serious about music theory is not your main concern he will approach lessons from tab, chord diagrams and so on.My own story was one of wanting to fingerpick folk songs. Simon got me started and then I became interested in classical. I have been doing the ABRSM exams in classical guitar and doing really well. But I also tap into his knowledge of blues and jazz because I have other playing ambitions as well.Simon is a very patient and friendly teacher who teaches guitar (and banjo etc) in a relaxed manner for all abilities. He will explain any musical ideas until you 'get it' and I really recommend him highly.Oh, and Simon will help with guitar purchases, book purchases etc. Best money I have ever spent taking lessons from him.

I can't recommend Bolton Guitar Studio highly enough. Simon's a great guitarist. He can play and teach any style you like. Classical, rock, blues jazz or whatever, he can play and teach them all. You want to play from notation? No problem, and he's knows more music theory than you're ever likely to need. Don't want to be bothered learning to read music? No problem either. He'll quite happily teach using tabulature. All the lessons are very relaxed and friendly, and he goes at a pace to suit the student.Problems with your guitar not playing properly? Action too high? Getting fret buzz? Does the neck tension need adjusting? He can probably sort that out for you too. (He's set up all my guitars.)He supplies guitars, ukuleles, mandolins and banjos too, as well as the accessories. You won't regret going to Bolton Guitar Studio.
