A Yarn Story
I love this little shop, you are always afforded a really warm welcome, and great advice if you need it. The yarns are beautiful and luxurious, it’s a real treat to go and squish them. Carmen runs great workshops, and gets some of the best designers and teachers on board; I’ve attended several over the years, and I’ve met some great people. Cannot wait to get back when things are more normal.

Excellent yarn shop, staff super helpful in finding a yarn for my project and matching colours as well as calculating yardage. I've shopped online with them before, buy well worth a visit, even if just to browse their exquisite yarn collection. Good thing they're a town over from me, or I'd have no money left!!!

Best yarn shop in the country! Carmen, the shop’s passionate owner, has exquisite taste. The selection is beautifully curated—they carry only the best yarns in the most gorgeous colors, many of which are naturally dyed. And the staff couldn’t be nicer, more knowledgeable or more supportive. I started shopping A Yarn Story as an absolute beginner about a year ago and they’ve helped me progress through multiple scarves, hats and my first jumper. Shops like these, which unfortunately are far and few these days, are what makes a city like Bath feel special.

I really like this company. I subscribed to the newsletter ages ago and it is probably the only weekly newsletter that I look forward to reading.I went into the store when visiting Bath a couple of months ago - I wanted to see/feel the yarn for real as opposed to looking on the internet. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and had a lot of integrity. I didn't have a pattern in mind and after helping me, the member of staff suggested I leave and order online when I knew how many skeins I wanted. This is now my go-to online yarn shop!

This is a lovely yarn shop with a truly wonderful team behind it! They have some unique yarn brands, with a fantastic range of colours and accessories. I love how they engage with customers, sorting through the options to get you that perfect yarn for a project. This experience has been the same regardless of whether I shopped in-store, online or at a yarn festival (Unravel). You guys are amazing - keep doing what you do!

Having lived in Oxford last year, I struggled to find a local yarn store that had the quality and selection of yarn and accessories that I wanted access to. When I made the trip to Bath to visit A Yarn Story, it was love at first site. The shop itself is a gem, immaculately kept, with a stunning array of knitting supplies. On top of that, the team and the service experience was exceptional. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and so generous with their time as I looked to find just the right skeins for projects. They also run amazing classes and events, a highlight for me being the Cocoknits event. If you are anywhere near Bath and a knitter/crocheter/weaver, it is worth your time to make a stop here. You will not be disappointed! A must on the UK yarn tour.

Such fantastic customer service! Surely one of the best yarn shops in the whole country. Carmen’s attention to detail and commitment to running an excellent small business with very high standards is second to none. We visited for my birthday and I spent time in the shop on two occasions while we were in Bath and had the best time choosing yarn and chatting to Carmen and her colleague. Shops like this are SO important and I want Carmen and her small team of staff to know just how much we all value them being there. Online service is also truly excellent. Five stars and I defy anyone to say otherwise.

Living in Tasmania, Australia, makes me one of the 'far away' customers of A Yarn Story. I have now purchased several times (always yarn that I am not able to find here). I am extremely satisfied with the sheer range, customer service, and with the friendliness and helpfulness of staff. My parcel was delivered promptly, which is amazing considering current restrictions on international flights and mail. The lovely hand-written note that comes with it is lovely. Frankly, I am delighted, and will not only purchase again (and soon!), but will try and visit next time I am in the UK. Thanks Carmen and team for the lovely goodies! The parcels always make my day.

Amazing customer service. I told them that I’m looking to start crocheting and asked what I’d need. The lady who served me went above and beyond. She picked out a needle for me, explained how to read the yarns, gave me a link for patterns, an instagrammer to follow, and a YouTuber to watch. She didn’t have to do any of that but the fact that she took the time too really made my day. Thank you for helping out an absolute beginner! ❤️

I haven't gotten to visit the shop in person (yet!) but I've ordered online a few times and every single time has been a delight. This shop has such a large offering of yarns and knitty goods of all types. Every order has come super quickly and beautifully packaged. I'm in love with all of the sock yarn I've gotten, as well as the yarn for the hat I'm doing now. I hope I get to visit Bath and this delightful shop sometime next year!
