Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel
Stayed here for 2 nights between 28th-30th November. Bedroom was pleasant enough and met our requirements, I just feel the room was outdated and needed a face lift.The only real issue was that every time my wife and I ordered at the bar we were either over charged or short changed and this was also the case in the restaurant, having had items added to our bill we hadn't even ordered, the staff claimed it was a genuine oversight but this happened to us personally consistently. I'm not sure if there are practices happening the owner/s are unaware of but I think your evening staff need to have a bit more honesty. If they want to bump their wages up all they had to do was ask us for money and we'd have more than likely given them some.Over all a pleasant relaxing stay (when we were not trying to get the correct change/bill) but due to the dishonesty of some of the staff I'd not return.

Everyone at the hotel made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside. Everything was great and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I can't wait to go back and see the upgrade to the main entrance taking place right now. Thank you to all the staff working there. Yiu are brilliant!

The room was clean and adequately equipped. We would have liked a few more tea bags, but we didn't spend much time in the room so it wasn't a big problem. The main problem was the transport late evening. The service bus stops at 6.30 p.m. and the park and ride about 8 p.m. which meant we had to take a taxi. However this is obviously something which is outside your control given the location of the hotel. perhaps it should be pointed out to guests when booking.

This is provably the worse hotel I ever stayed!!!....The fridge was off when we arrived and we didn't noticed until the second day so the water was not cold.The table was full of scratches from previos cups.There was only 1 rope and 1 towel in the room of 2.Reception don't answer the phone and when they did, they picked it up and hang it.Lack of information on arrival, when we asked about buses and transport to town we were told to use taxes which are £12 each way.The shower was nearly blocked that the water drain very slowly so you end up showering on dirty water.The soap dispenser was empty.We drunk the bottle of water the first night and was left on top of the table empty even after the room service and not replaced.The bath silicone seal look like it was install by a bad DIY.The breakfast suite was too small for the amount of guests the Danishes pastries run out within 30 minutes of starting the service and they didn't replenish.The door didn't seal shut.The carpet looks run down.For some reason the stuff seen to miss the smile to the customer memo??!!The Bed was fantastic tho, I slept well after the door stop making noises.

Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel
We very much enjoyed our stay at this excellent hotel. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. Bathroom was spotless and the shower easy to use. Bathroom will need a bit of a refurb in the next year or so but nothing to be put off by. Staff are pleasant and efficient throughout. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. We would have liked to eat more in the hotel in the evening but menu was very limited. We will definitely be staying there again.

A bit tired. Needs a face-lift. Clean room. Comfortable beds. Dated bathroom. Noisy from corridor and outside.Breakfast nothing to write home about. At a price of £12 pp I would expect much higher quality.Easy access to York with free car park.

The staff were brilliant, friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation itself is a little tired. Bedrooms very clean but showing signs of ware and tare. The reception area was under renovation whilst we were there so maybe it will continue on into the bedrooms. The food was from a limited menu but served hot and very good

The staff are very efficient & helpful, nothing is too much trouble to may your stay as comfortable & enjoyable as possible.The restaurant/bar staff are polite, courteous and efficient. They take seriously any allergy, even if not on the list of 14 allergens.Overall, a fantastic stay.

Friendly welcome by reception also the staff are all nice. We did have a slight issue with a room but was immediately sorted. The family rooms are large, as well are the beds. Quite comfortable however they are looking dated and tired. The hotel was in the process of renovating but no noise just looks to be replacing carpets. Hotel was located in a nice area surrounded by quiet gardens, About 15mins from York centre. Breakfast was the usual English breakfast, fruits, yoghurts, continental. Nice selection and quality. I would suggest the bacon is cooked a bit less as tasted and looked dry. Nice coffee, selection of teas and fruit juices.

From the title you will see my experience was mixed. As with two years ago, managers were nowhere to be seen and the staff, although very pleasant and willing, didn't seem to know their jobs.For a hotel of this size and price range, the bedrooms are basic.The hotel was refurbished 30 years ago and it feels that little has been done since then: the fabric is tired.
