I’m an intern at SSC. I had a great time here: Anne helped me improve my English and my skills as well. I recommend it to everybody who wants to enjoy an experience abroad and to learn about Scottish culture. Also if you are interested in oriental languages, Korean and Japanese are taught here as well.

Anne is a very patient and easy to understand lecturer in academic writing. Her one to one tuition is flawless and she works tiredlessly to help students reach their full potential. The relaxed approach to teaching makes learning fun!

I had a great time being an intern at SSC. Anne entrusted me with many interesting tasks. She has been a great tutor, willing for me to learn and make the most of my time in Scotland. I really recommend being an intern at SSC if you want to improve your English and get some valuable work experience.

This place should be named as 'ACADEMIC SUCCESS CENTRE'. I had a few learning support tutors while at university, but this place helped me so much. Study can be stressful when you are non-native speaker studying in UK and your studies are in the muddle because of lack of academic English language. This place Mrs. Anne McDonald- the principal/owner, she is excellent helping me to see better and clearer. I was so lucky and grateful to Mrs. McDonald who successfully rescued me from a laggard to a capable student which I gained 2:1. If I did not have her in time I would gain 3rd class. She helped me to improve my grades and succeed in my studies. She identifies what went wrong and sorted out the problem I had. I am sure many non-native students have the same problem as I am. Don't leave too late and regret, be your own effective manager. If you don't know you hire the expert to sort out your problems. You definitely will feel a lot better than just relying on family/friends who only comfort but can't help you to sort out the problems, but Mrs. McDonald can. Well worth every penny for my long team investment. The best decision I did at the right time. THANK YOU AND THANK YOU.

Anne is a professional, highly passionate and experienced tutor. I've been taking the evening general English course offered by SSC for about 2 months now, I've learnt a lot in terms of native way to speak English and essay writing. The teaching materials use and the topics discussed in the classes are very relevant and up-to-date. Anne is willing to form a small evening class to accommodate my needs as I'm a working adult and I cannot attend any day classes. So for any working adult out there that wish to improve your English level, I highly recommend this course.

I study Japanese here and would definitely recommend to anyone who's interested in the language. The groups are very small so you have many occasions to speak and practice, and actually enjoy yourself without fear of falling behind. The classes are well structured and divided evenly between grammar/reading and listening/speaking. Bonus: the free tea (and sometimes biscuits!) offered when you arrive! Thanks a lot Anne and Chika for making this school such a cosy place ^_^

SSC is a great place to study languages. After years of inactivity I went back to Japanese: Anne structured the course very well with extensive materials to prepare for the JLPT but also just as a review; Chika is a great teacher and makes you leave the course happy and keen to be back asap. They are both super helpful and quick to reply. I would recommend anyone (beginner or more advanced) the school!

I am a 52 yr old Scottish student. They didn't teach much grammar nor writing skills when I was at school. Through working with Anne, my writing has really improved. I am a more confident when it comes to writing essays and presentations. Anne's method of teaching is very interactive which I like. I found she was very kind in her approach when addressing the mistakes I made. I found her to be a warm, approachable teacher. I've been recommending her to my friends.

I love SSC !!! SSC does not teach just textbook languages, but makes learners actually use the language and improve. The teacher, Anne is very skillful and really caring. She is absolutely the best teacher I've ever met!

I took SSC's Academic English Language and Skills course as you needed to improve my academic writing, presentation and discussion skills for the Visiting Research Training programme (Ph.D. level) at The University of Edinburgh. Anne is an excellent teacher, and the classes were dynamic and useful to my specific purposes. The course was designed to cover academic topics and skills, but the sessions were also tailored to suit my specific language and skills needs. Highly recommendable!
