Portnellan Farm

We stayed in the Glamping tent this past week. Wow! What an experience. The view from the tent was gorgeous. Great location. Very private. Lots to do close by. Great base for climbing Ben Lomond as well as other nearby peaks. Chris, David, and Freda were extremely friendly and very accommodating. The glamping tent was very comfortable and the bedding was lush. We were very warm with the nice log burner in the tent and I loved the firepit and super nice outdoor table and chairs. Sole access to bathroom with shower and roomy kitchen was very close. Large doors opened in the kitchen exposing a great view of Loch Lomond. A private boat Dock was close by with all the water sports and boat tours available by Chris. Farm is composed of approximately 250 acres of gorgeous land right on the Loch. Family owned and operated makes for a very pleasant and personalised stay. We are definitely coming back to stay here again. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

What a nice place, we stayed 2 nights in the tent. The owners are very friendly and hospitable, has a lot of knowledge of the area for hiking, eating and water activities. You can buy organic beef what they produce them selfs.

A farm shop. A proper farm shop. A shop on a farm selling the produce they produce. Namely, the most delicious beef - no more, no less. Well worth the drive.

Chris was super friendly and welcoming. It was nice to have the kayak by ourselves to move around the islands freely. Even when we didn't arrive back on time due to the windier conditions, he didn't mind and was totally understanding. Thanks again.

A truly wonderful place and now firmly an annual destination for our family. The owners are truly amazing people and couldn’t be more welcoming. From the fantastic accommodation to the boat tours and organic beef I genuinely can’t rate Portnellan Farm highly enough.

Really fantastic experience. Myself, partner and parents had a great time on the beautiful speedboat with gorgeous views across loch lomond. Beautiful area of outstanding beauty. Chris, the guide and skipper! was super friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the area and history. This made for an enjoyable experience which both my parents in their 70s! appreciated. Stopped off at a little pub in one of rhe islands. Highly recommend. 5 stars..give it a go and support an independent working farm. Thanks Chris and family!

THE BEST DAY - Arrived at 9am and booked two Kayaks for 2 hours. The father and son that run this place are honestly brilliant. So welcoming, smiley and are genuinely interested in what they do.My partner is not a great swimmer, but she was reassured by the excellent instructions provided. We were giving buoyancy aids for safety and off we went.The loch was like a millpond. Not a single wave and was almost crystal clear. It was around 24c and we explored some of the small islands, including visiting the local beach cows. I'd recommend this place to anyone as we are going to be coming back next weekend.I would book ahead at this place. We were lucky enough to get the last available kayaks. Also parking seems a little limited due to the popularity of the place.

We went on the speedboat island visit with Chris on who was a great host. He showed us around the loch with its breathtaking views and answered my kids questions. He was very sweet and patient. He then took us to a nearby island Inchmurrin for some ice cream and coffee. We loved the full hour and a half experience and definitely advise others to do the same. His family’s farm also sells organic meat from their herd. We bought some for dinner and it was so good. If they could only ship outside the UK…We loved it! Thank you Chris and family!
