We booked a table for 25 people for our family Christmas celebrations. The setting was lovely, the staff were so so friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable, and the food was great. Thank you very much for hosting us!

Food was extremely well prepared and the size of portions was a great suprise (compared to other local pubs). Mussels in white wine sauce were fresh, perfectly cooked and the broth was full of flavour, as well as the ribs from 'tenessee combo' (The rib cut was perfect...meaty and juicy). Onion rings have been our fave (among other pubs). Staff as usual so lovely and attentive. So happy we've changed our plans last night and ended up dinning at The Ship Inn. Thank you Charlotte and all staff.

UPDATEVisited for the first time this year and sadly we had a bit of a disappointing visit this time. No carvery as advertised and that was the whole reason we went and several orders were wrong. Lovely food but I think someone needs to be a bit more organised! Oddly rather empty for a Saturday lunchtime as well.Lovely food. Nice atmosphere. Only do Carvery at weekends at the moment.

Such a cosy, homely atmosphere. The food was really good (not quite as good as my roast lol) and the staff were all really polite and welcoming. Will definitely come back

Food was amazing, I had the steak and ale pie and would highly recommend! No skimping at this locale. The service was attentive, our waitress was really polite and helpful as was the ‘manager’ who had a cheery and caring disposition. All in all great service! Would highly recommend this cosy and historical public house and restaurant.

A place with a great ambience and fantastic menu card. Wholesome English old fashioned pub grub but cooked and served to a high standard. Pleasantly surprised when the bill arrived, very fair. Highly recommended. I will be back.

We went to the Ship Inn for the first time for Sunday lunch. It is very very rare that I say this, but it was excellent. The carvery was superb, service was fast, polite, and helpful. The chef's sense of humour on the carvery was great, he could be on stage. (In a way he was).We had our meal in the patio area, which has been made to a very high standard, was comfortable and a very pleasant area to eat.We will most definitely be going back, and are.in the process of arranging a large family lunch there.I would recommend the Ship Inn as the place to go.

Went on a Sunday Great reduced menu to suit all tastes. Carvery was Very well done, beef cooked Slightly Pink Which is great as I Dislike overdone meat, fantastic choice of vegetables, with no restrictions to how many you can choose. Deserts were lovely, shared an ice cream sundae which was plenty. The waitress was very friendly, attentive and hard-working.

Came on a Sunday for the carvery and although the food was amazing we were incredibly let down by the service. We weren't served drinks until 35 mins after we sat down and were then told we couldn't go up for the carvery until another 10-15mins... 1 hrs and 15 mins after we sat down, we were allowed to go up for food and on doing so realised people who had come in much later than us had been up already. I understand they were short staffed but carvery you just help yourself anyway. They removed a bottle of wine and a lemonade from our bill for the issue. Wouldn't rush to visit again
