The Tile Shop Alehouse
Such a quirky, welcome ale house with excellent ales from Tring Brewery. Will be a proper snug bar when allowed inside after lockdown

I was initially quite taken with the ‘tile shop’The beer was well kept and they obviously had a great knowledge on local breweries. The atmosphere is a little odd, a mixture between a living room a cafe and a bar.Unfortunately when some ‘locals’ arrived the landlords attitude changed.I suddenly felt unwelcome, turns out I shouldn’t be talking on my phone outside sat at a table… certainly not about my medical issues.I was having a final relaxing pint before the operation tomorrow and the moment was ruined.I am about to have my hip removed for a third time in 2 months. The landlord was requesting I ‘stand up and walk across the road to talk’ not particularly sympathetic to my battered hip…To summarise the beer was great! But unfortunately the atmosphere was odd when I arrived, by the time I left it was toxic.Maybe I was over sensitive, but I feel that it could’ve been communicated a lot more gently.Disappointed as I feel the place had potential.I saw no signage in the bar regarding no phones, and was actually encouraged to answer my phone when I was talking to the landlord stood at the bar. But when I answer my phone outside 5 mins later it’s banned?

Good beer, cute place in what was once a tile shop...duh...Quirky decor, bar games to borrow. No food, but chips for sale. Fun spot for a pint.

One of the best finds in Oxford. Very tasty beer and really decent staff. Theo has the banter.

If you love beer, this is the perfect place to go. They know and love the product they sale. They pay attention to the details of how a beer must be served: temperature, the right mixture of CO2 and nitrogen, the size of bubbles! A real beer experience.

Feels like you are walking into someone's front room not a public space, I didnt feel comfortable. No children allowed and dogs barely tolerated. A nice concept but I don't think they have got it quiet right.
