Bongate House

Wonderfully obliging, the owner is pleasant, helpful and a joy to deal with. And she fully welcomes walkers, which is not always the case, oddly, in the greatest of walking country. Highly recommend

Really nice B&B in Appleby. Rooms are excellent and the breakfast sets you up for the day. Lots to see in Appleby and the surrounding area, and plenty of places to eat in the evening

Spent two nights in this really delightful welcoming B&B. It has seven rooms and ours was a very comfortable large room with an excellent en-suite lovely little breakfast room and a wide choice of breakfast to please anyone.Easy to find and easy parking with good pubs and restaurants very nearby.The owner, Anne, couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming and clearly takes a loving pride in ensuring guests are happy. All In all, a very nice and quiet place to stay.

Great bed and breakfast place in Appleby. Stayed in the caravan site at the back. Caravans were very comfortable and well equipped with all essentials. Fantastic hosts who gave me a walking pole to replace the one I'd lost the previous day while being chased by a herd of bullocks! Such kindness.

From the excellent warm welcome to the high quality very clean bedroom and bathroom. A lovely spacious comfortable bed. The owner was very friendly and helpful and served an excellent breakfast. Would recommend as a first class B&B.

We visited Bongate House last year. Enjoyed our stay. Lovely couple and enjoyed chatting with them. Double room with ensuite lovely. Breakfast excellent. Would Definitely stay again when we visit family..

Stayed just the one night at Bongate. The room, facing the garden was very comfortable and had all that you needed in it. There’s a pub, the Royal Oak just down the road where i had a delicious evening meal. The breakfast at Bongate was well prepared and set me up for the return journey home after walking the Dales High Way. The owner, Anne was very friendly and helpful.

Never done it before, but I seemed to have got my dates mixed up and arrived 24hrs early for an overnight stay at another establishment in Appleby! After a bit of phoning around, we were advised to try Ann (proprietor) at Bongate House as by this time, it was 17:00 hrs and we had been busy making a day of it in Appleby, setting off from home at 09:00 hrs that day! Explained to Ann and although she was pretty full and hadn't planned on letting out a particular room she had, she 'took us in'. Thank goodness she did. What a gem of a place and an absolute gem of a woman! So kind, thoughtful and friendly. Her home is beautiful, lovely and clean and the bed was so comfortable too. Really important to me, having spinal issues! Ann's food is delicious and plentiful. First time in Appleby (which is just delightful) and we certainly hope to be back. Wouldn't stay anywhere else other than here! Thank you Ann. And best wishes going forward. Lynn & Mick xx

Very good B&B. Stayed here on my walking holiday. Nice room. Good breakfast. Solid WiFi. Very much recommended.
