A Step at a Time

I broke and dislocated my ankle 7 years ago. Last year the osteoarthritis in my ankle had deteriorated so badly that skiing was almost impossible, by the end of day one I could hardly walk. This year Alex made an insole and a heal lift and fitted them in my ski boots which prevented my ankle going to the point where it did damage. Remarkably I have just come back from a weeks skiing and there was a dramatic improvement with only light swelling and discomfort. All week I could walk fine with only a slight occasional limp (helped by insoles in my day shoes that Alex made too). I am now looking forwards to seeing if I can return to doing other activities I had stopped due to ankle pain. Many thanks for all your help.

After wearing the same insoles for 5 years which eventually offered no support. My left ankle flared up and I could walk. After resting it for a week, it stabilised. After developing arthritis in my knee, I was faced with the possibility of not being able to run again. Alex was able to diagnose the problems with my gait that had led to the cartilage being worn away and built me a pair of custom insoles that compensate for my over pronation when running. As a result, I've been able to resume my weekly runs and recently completed my first 10k in 2 years! Alex is very friendly and explained what was going on in my feet and joints so that I understood fully what was happening. I highly recommend A Step At A Time - my only regret is that I hadn't come for a consultation years ago, before the arthritis had developed!

The inner soles she created are perfect for my needs, after our consulation she knew exacly what I require and produced them in the one appointment. So I was able to start using them straight away. The insoles Alex made for me have been an absolute game changer. Alex provided a very warm, friendly and amazingly informative service.The insoles, although a little odd at first, I have found to be incredibly comfortable. I visited Alex to get some footbeds made, as I have flat feet and have always been in so much pain because of it! From my ankles, knees, back, right up to my neck, after a long day on my feet or doing any sport, I would ache so much after.I am not exaggerating when I say getting the footbeds has changed my life! I wear them in every pair of shoes and now do not experience any pain, can last way longer on my feet now. I am an avid skiier and Alex also made me an additional pair for my ski boots with a higher arch for extra support and it's a complete game changer for me in terms of skiing. It helps that Alex is a ski boots expert!I had footbeds made for me through the NHS that really hurt to wear, were a completely different shape and quality to the ones Alex made.Cannot recommend her services enough - whether you have flat feet or not, whether you're a skiier, runner, hiker or are just on your feet a lot.
