Dreadful. Dark corridors with steps with no lights working, very dangerous, Shower head in my room held in place with gaffer tape. Cups for tea and coffee stuck to the saucer and cups not clean inside. No breakfast provided. Will I be coming back? I'll let you guess.

Room was okay just. Very old with a spartan decor. Service was non existant. After booking in mid afternoon on Friday,we didn't see any staff until Sunday mid morning. Although we had arrange to dine elsewhere. The restaurant was empty at all times. Twice the restaurant was locked at 9.00 am.We were not alone in receiving a ghostly experience. We could had been on the Mary Celeste . Probably got better service. Not impressed at all.

I was there same night as Terry Fallon (reviewer here). It is a truly abominable place. The fire alarm sounded around 8AM on Saturday morning. The building is abandoned by the owner at 8PM when he leaves to go home. (I wonder if that is even legal) Guests evacuated down the perilous fire escape which was wet with rain, extremely steep, and very narrow. We gathered at the front all confused about what to do. I met the owner later when taking the room key back and he was furious because a family had cancelled because of this experience which he blamed on a bedroom smoker. No apology, no nothing. It is a lovely building but it is a shocking hotel, if you can call it that. It is basically being run by one person and he goes home early and arrives late.

Completely awful. Run if you're given room 44. Though the building is dated and you'd expect some antique quirks, lighting in the corridors was poor and there was no headroom. Getting up to our room required scaling an ancient staircase which was falling to pieces and which was also not lit. Really quite dangerous. The shared shower room/toilet was grimy without proper soap and there was no privacy glass. The room was incredibly dusty, probably due to the ceiling which was falling apart and peeling away. Plus we hit our heads on the beams multiple times (no mind your head signs). The bed was hard and fairly mucky, we didn't bother peeling back the duvet to see what was underneath and instead spent the night shivering under our T shirts. To top it off the heating didn't work.No water/tea/coffee facilities in the room, though we had been left a stained towel in case we were mad enough to take a shower. This isn't just bad it's downright dangerous.

Room is disgusting and hasn't been cleaned in what looks like a decade, scuff marks, hand prints, what also looks like blood on the wall, bogies in random places this hotel is in dire need of an update i was rudely awoken at check out time even though im booked in for another night. the couple in the room next door left a day early because there bathroom flooded and the water from the shower was freezing and they complained about the state of the room oh and you will be fined if you eat food in your room?!?! Ha yeah OK!! if I could give this place negative stars I would.... that said the location is excellent and the town itself is beautiful

Lovely old building with real character and charm. yes it's a bit dated but definitely not as bad as a lot of reviews make out! Our room was basic and dated but clean and comfortable and perfect for the price. Great location, walking distance from other pubs and restaurants and very pretty surroundings. Friendly host on check in, although nobody around to check out, however we had been told to leave the key in the room of that was the case so no issue really! Would stay again with no hesitation.

Wasn’t Impressed with my room, very outdated place and dark corridors I banged my head trying to get through some doors while going to my room, room wasn’t very clean and there was dust in most places. Also found tobacco on my table and cigarette tip wrapping in the bin so someone was clearly rolling a cigarette for themselves beforehand. I could not check out first thing in the morning I didn’t know where to leave the key, the reception door was locked and no signs for checkout. My television did not work, tried to use channels but it didn’t work. The phone didn’t work in the room either.
