Great location, good drinks, extremely nice barkeep who kept us entertained and let us stay as long as legally possible when our car broke down and we had to wait there.

We visited the Glenavon Hotel on sunday and were taken by surprise by how welcoming we were made. whiles having a drink and chatting with Donny the bartender we enjoyed his company and at that we booked into a room for the night so we could stay longer at the bar. Great selection of local whisky and very welcoming place to be with a really nice open fire.Great full scottish breakfast made by the bartender superb. If you haven't visited already your in for treat. We will definitely visited again.Victor.

Myself and my partner stayed just for one night whilst exploring the local area and found the hotel to be incredibly welcoming with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They truly went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, and they were fantastic company giving us great information about local distilleries and whiskey, as well as local views to explore.I would happily stay here again.

Went for a relaxing break and got just thatGraham the owner was very friendly and accommodating and as we had 2 dogs one of which is young and bouncy Graham made sure we had a room that made it easy for us to take them in and out without fussAlthough there is no food at present due to not being able to hire a chef breakfast was still served by the hostRooms are basic but comfortable and very reasonable And the bar is good with a open fire which just hypnotises you lolWould definitely recommend and will be returning soon

I miss this place an indescribable amounts. We came here around a month ago, for my birthday. Sometimes you go somewhere that just really stays with you.I loved our trip to the highlands, but this is one of the main things that I’d love to revisit. We just came to drink.. had the very best time. Great selection of whisky, and beer. Our host (and Lucy) was brilliant, great stories, a mythical ideal level barman. Hung out with us later on by the fire. {when you see those silly insta videos titled “this is the perfect bar that doesn’t exist”, this is that for me. It reminds me of the bar Tolkien wrote about that he only imagined. It was my version of that truly).I could write ridiculous amounts about how ideal and perfect this place was, but honestly just go there. If you are anywhere near, just visit here and be thirsty.I will come back here one day, 1000% sure that I will. And I’ll drink more of your whisky.

We were visiting the village for 24 hours in our van. Cannot recommend The Glenavon highly enough. Struggled to get food (out of season) anywhere in the village, but after a pint here they sorted us out after a couple of phone calls with some delicious soup and bread as well as the lovely beer. Also the welcome was excellent!!Thanks so muchAndrew

We spent an evening at the pub since our initial accommodations were cancelled and we could only find lodging in Tomintoul - bartender/hotel owner let us try several kinds of whisky as we weren't too familiar and focused on what we liked/disliked. 10/10 would recommend visiting just for the bar alone, great stories, great atmosphere, great guy.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Glenavon. Friendly and helpful hosts; a good bar with a good selection of whisky and beer/ale; comfortable and homely rooms at a reasonable price. Located centrally in the village square a short distance from a popular whisky shop and restaurants.

My parents and I stayed here for two nights in May while driving around the highlands (from the US). We truly had the best time. It was exactly what we were looking for - off the beaten path and somewhere we could hang out, relax, eat and enjoy a local/cozy vibe. The staff was awesome (we particularly loved Lucy the dog, and Jamie the bartender had some great stories). The food was great, they gave us tons of great recommendations for the surrounding area/hikes around the village and even an impromptu whiskey lesson/tasting at the bar. The room was cozy and clean! My parents had never been to Scotland, and our experience at the Glenavon made the whole trip - we really didn’t want to leave. Will DEFINITELY be coming back and have already told everyone we know how great it was. Even if you are just driving through I suggest stopping in and supporting Graham, we really appreciated and enjoyed his efforts to accommodate us and his superb company. Both nights we sat for hours at the bar just chatting - we felt very at home! This place is a must! 5 stars across the board and we can’t wait to come back!
