Out and About on Bute

We arrived on Bute and last minute decided we wanted to rent some bikes. Lucian messaged straight back and said he could help! The bikes were great quality and Lucian was very friendly and shared some tips with us on locations to visit. Highly recommend as a day out from Glasgow!

My partner and I rented a couple of Ebikes together with a doggy trailer for an afternoon out cycling in Bute. Lucian was very personable and helpful and really made the whole experience simple and stress-free! The roads around Bute are relatively quiet and a pleasure to cycle on. We cycled to Ettrick Bay Tearooms for lunch and cake followed by a nice walk along the coast... We took the long route back including a memorable cycle down the famous Canada Hill! This was our dog's first time in a bike trailer... She wasn't sure at first but soon got used to it! The bikes were very easy to use and tackled hills with ease making our afternoon very enjoyable... It was my first time on Bute for a wee holiday and I really enjoyed cycling around the whole island. For me, the ultimate feeling of freedom: Stopping wherever I wanted, to soak in the beautiful views and jumping into the sea at little beaches that were more secluded. With a bicycle everything is so much more accessible. Lucian was so helpful and hospitable. As a Dutch person I'm quite particular about the bikes I ride and this bicycle was my best friend for these days. It made my stay unforgettable. Thank you so much!

Had a great experience hiring bikes from Lucian! Both e-bikes and non-ebikes were in good condition, and a quick lesson helped the beginners in our group feel comfortable using them before exploring the rest of the island.Lucian also kindly offered to let us return the bikes slightly later so we could eat fish and chips and catch the last ferry across!Would highly recommend to anyone, regardless of experience level.Good luck with your mission to get more Scots cycling!

Absolutely amazing! Lucien could not have been more helpful. Getting the bikes sorted for us getting off the ferry, them loaning us an anorak, and being brilliant with my kids!

We hired two electric bikes & a pet trailer for our French Bulldog. Lucian provided a great service, meeting us in town, suggesting suitable & interesting routes & showing us clearly how to us the bikes (we had never used electric bikes or a pet cab!) Lucian also helped on the phone when we had forgotten how to restart them! We cycled along the coast, round Mount Stuart and explored some pretty villages, we even saw seals! Would highly recommend using Out and About on Bute!

Very convenient service. We called Lucian up at 10am and he was with us a couple hours later with the perfect bikes for us.Lucian showed us everything we needed to know, made sure we were happy before we were on our way around the Island.Bikes seemed practically new and enjoyable to ride.This is definitely the best way to explore the Island. 5 hours allowed us to do the main loop, taking in all the well known bays and stopping at the pub and for a picnic. You could do it in 4 easily.Will be back again!

We were able to rent some E-bikes from Lucian and had such a fantastic time! If you come to Bute you absolutely MUST come and check out the shop! Not only can you get some great recommendations on things to do and see, but you can travel around the island with ease on a very convenient electric bike! Lucian is a pleasure to deal with and is very personable!

I highly recommend contacting Lucian to hire bikes on Bute. He is very friendly and full of useful advice and information on cycling the island. He was able to accommodate me on very short notice and gave me the flexibility to keep the bike into the early evening which was really great, given the improving weather late in the day.Touring the island on two wheels was a great way to see all the island has to offer outside Rothesay. Mount Stuart was particularly memorable!
