Great beach for kids , you can go fossil hunting by the cliff base or look for crabs , shrimps , fish etc in the rock pools when the tide is out ( I would recommend footwear for the rock pools as it can be slippery and sharp edges ) .Great place for kite flying as its normally windy , car parking is £4 , free toilets , small gift shop and cafe .

A fantastic beach for fossil hunting. My advice, walk a mile or so up the beach during low tide. Look carefully in the wet rocks on the beach and you'll find loose belemnite fossil pieces frequently, and examples of pudding stone too. To find fossils in rocks themselves, stick close to the cliffs and look for freshly fallen rock. We found a lovely big chunk of flint with both a belemnite and isocrania on show side by side. It took us 2.5 hours to find it though! The kids loved it. There is a nice cafe and mini museum-display by the car park to rest and study your finds once you're done. The car park is pay and display but cheap - there is no other parking options except this car park. Highly recommended.

Great beach for walks (sensible footware needed), swims feel private with the groyne demarcations, quite a current so take care with depth and kids.

Great beach with toilets and cafe nearby and coastal path to walk. Rock pools to explore and lifeguard station if taking a dip in the sea.

The reason for our visit was a sunset swim for the grandchildren. West Runton didn't disappoint. For sunsets I suggest the north coast of Norfolk, unless you want to travel out to Hunstanton. The view to Cromer pier is amazing and the crumbling cliffs a reminder of the always present coastal erosion. The car park closes at 21:00 so be careful you don't get locked in.In the summer there is a small stretch of beach where dogs are not allowed, but it is a short walk to the best sand for your dogs off their leads.

As a family we love this beach and visit as much as we can throughout the year It has something for everyone young or old. There are great rock pools, a lovely sandy beach, lifeguards, toilets and a great cafe/shop. Events for kids happen from fossil hunting to rock pooling etc... and the carpark is great too.
