Essence Of The Orient
The only Chinese restaurant in Stafford and within walking distance from the town centre. The rest are Chinese takeaways. Ample seating. Fast service. Accept card payment which is a bonus (lots of Chinese places are cash-only). Good value for money.

Simple the best oriental kitchen in Stafford, not just for take aways but also to dine in. Great dishes and service. Very kind staff.

The food here used to be fantastic ! … but not any more. Recipes seem to have changed (guessing either new ownership or getting greedy by using poor ingredients or bought-in microwaveable food) been using for years - no more unfortunately.

Very rude lady taking take away orders. Disgusting food , tasteless and full of artificial. I had a stomachache for 2 days after ordering from this place! Never again.

Probably the best Chinese restaurant and takeaway around the town. We have been ordering for years and it is always consistently good. The restaurant is nice and clean and normally it is not crowded which is a plus this days. Take away is usually fast so food arrives hot and before you starve too much. I don't know how they do it but I get delivered in Baswich in about 30 minutes after ordering and paying by phone with my debit card. If you collect they have the order ready usually in 15/20 minutes. My favourites are the Singapore Vermicelli, the bean curd in black bean sauce (tofu) ...but they have many other delicious options like the crispy chicken and salt and pepper squid, crab and corn soup, etc.We also visited the restaurant to dine in. The place is very clean, nicely decorated and the service is friendy and proffesional. I would recomend one of the banquests which came hot from the kitchen and you get the taste of some of the best dishes. We had the set B and it was fantastic

This is honestly the first time I’ve ever had a bad meal from here, but I was honestly so disgusted with it. It wasn’t even the taste of the food, it was the fact my meal had so much hair in it.We called back and they did offer for a replacement, which I accepted at first, but I found more hair in another dish I ordered, that I called and canceled the replacement food. I couldn’t even think about eating another bite of anything coming from there. They then refused to give a full refund after which I’m really disappointed about because I really did like this place. I’m not one to complain ever unless I feel it’s absolutely necessary. This just crossed the line.

If you want to go here for a take away that's fine, but don't expect great food for the prices. The yuk sung has no seasoning and is bland .The curry has more onions and mushrooms than meat .The won ton soup had more cabbage in than won tons .And they had coke and no Pepsi but when I paid ,on the receipt it listed it as Pepsi. The gave us the impression that we weren't welcome there so we won't be going back and if that's how you treat every customer, its no wonder your empty all the time.

I always try and give fair reviews and this is a bit of a mixed one. This was the first time me and my friends had been here and the general look and atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't the best, unfortunately. The staff were lovely and friendly and they had a gluten free menu which was great for my friend who is Coeliac. The food was actually really good and I had probably the best yuk sung and salt n pepper chips I have ever eaten. The portions were good but the prices were all different from the menu to what was then noted on our receipt (most things had gone up by £1). When paying, we noticed the area behind the counter was really messy and covered rubbish and clutter, which made the place look dirty. Will I come back again? Yes! Just for the fact they had a gf menu and the food made up for the look and feel of the restaurant.
