My wife had a bespoke gown made by Ailsa and rather unusually I shared in the experience of seeing it come together (there was nothing traditional about our wedding.)We have a little girl and Ailsa made sure my wife's dress was comfortable with freedom of movement so she would be able to pick up, play with and dance with our three year old on her wedding day. She had thought of all the things we didn't and the quality of her work shows how much passion she has for her craft.We were so thrilled with not only the wedding dress she made, but also the adorable linen flower girl dress with hand sewn embroidery she made for Lyra we can't recommend her enough for those looking for a slower paced, relaxed and more eco friendly dress making experience.

I originally found Ailsa's Billie separates on Pinterest, as many brides do. I was crazy about it immediately, but I figured it wasn’t doable since I’m in the US and she’s across the pond. I took the plunge without ever seeing me in person and she agreed! She was so easy to get along with and made me feel so comfortable with the whole process. Despite never measuring me in person, my dress fit perfectly and looked so lovely on. The process went so smoothly and was a lot of fun. She eased any stress I had about my dress and I truly feel like I gained a friend. I would highly recommend Ailsa to anyone!!!

I absolutely cannot say enough good things about my experience with Ailsa. She is smart, talented, creative, patient, supportive, inclusive, and always game to think outside the box! As a tall, plus size femme who prefers to dress like sleepy royalty, it was a real struggle trying to find a wedding dress I loved. After a whole lot of searching, I found Ailsa, and I fell in love with her work instantly. Despite me living in Canada and her living in the UK, she made the dress making process so accessible and easy, not to mention exciting and delightful. My design meetings with her were so focused on making something beautiful that felt like me and made me feel joyful. I was blessed by the opportunity to wear a couple of Ailsa's beautiful pieces on a styled shoot back in 2021. She truly is such a tremendous talent, and her work reflects not only her care, but her vision, and her attention to detail. Also, who knew wedding dresses could be comfortable?! I legitimately could've slept in either of them with no issue. Beyond Ailsa's impeccable work (the photos speak for themselves), she is a kind, compassionate, and beautiful human being who genuinely listens to your needs and lets you lead the way to the dress of your dreams. My only regret is not knowing about her before I chose my own wedding gown back in 2017/2018. I couldn't recommend her more!

I knew I never wanted the bridal boutique experience, as a plus sized bride this side of the industry never interested me. I searched for designers who I could work with to design something I would feel comfortable in and I stumbled across Ailsa after a little searching. Her style is awesome and was what I was looking for.Ailsa is lovely to and knew what I wanted straight away. Due to the pandemic we had to reschedule our wedding twice and also in the first year my husband and I held a commitment ceremony for which Ailsa made me a second linen dress which was awesome, Doug loved this dress and the colour was spot on for the landscape of Skye.After three years from the original meeting I put on weight and actually went up two dress sizes. Ailsa had to remake the top part of my dress at 5 months pregnant but got it done and delivered within the last two months before our wedding.I have the pleasure of owning two dresses made by Ailsa, they were a joy to wear on both occasions.

I chose Ailsa to design & make my wedding dress because I didn't want the stress of going into a boutique. I wanted an altogether more personal and bespoke experience in a gentle environment and have a dress that was not only designed with my ideas and style in mind, but tailored to fit me and my unique body exactly. I am so delighted with the result - Ailsa has a way of knowing exactly what you need (when you're not even sure yourself) and her craftswomanship is second to none. I love her designs - all so clearly influenced by a background in classic art and period dress but beautifully applied to suit the modern person. I really wish she'd create an every day range because I would buy every design that she made! If you're looking for a gentler, more organic and ethical alternative to shopping bridal wear, I highly recommend Ailsa.

Absolutely in love with the wedding dress that Ailsa designed and made for me. She made me feel comfortable from the get go which you quite often don’t get in a typical boutique. Listened to all of my concerns and queries and kept me informed every step of the way and I’m in love with the end result! Plus the dress has pockets! What else could you want?! Highly, highly recommend Ailsa, she is such a talented woman!

Ailsa was absolutely fantastic. I was not reallyinterested in going wedding dress shopping asmy mum had passed away. Getting one madeseemed a bit daunting however she made theentire process seamless. She understoodexactly was I was wanting, probably a lotbetter than I did. The dress was beautiful andfit perfectly. I couldn't recommend herenough.

We contracted Ailsa to create the dress for our wedding and we were so happy with her unique creation that captured our personality perfectly. Beyond that during the design and tailoring Ailsa set us at ease with her friendly personality as well as going above and beyond to help us with requests. If you can manage the trip out to the beautiful Cornish village she operates within she is a top choice for a dressmaker.
