We hired James in January 2023 and he worked for us until May, with the exception of a couple breaks to honour other commitments. During that time James renovated our derelict sheds at the back of the house, turning them into a large, safe, storage area and summer house with electricity (this was previously not something we had). Additionally James landscaped our garden, turning it from a swamp into a garden we can be proud of and now enjoy relaxing in. This including laying new borders, levelling the lawn so that it was straight, re-turfing, and creating a brick flower bed for us. Prior to meeting James we had a lot of roof problems and had paid roofers hundreds to “fix” the leaks – for them to fail; we had been quoted £9,000 to carry out a full repair and when this was mentioned to James he listened to the problem and, from the garden, was able to identify the problems just by looking. He undertook the repairs for us, saving us over £3000 in the process AND fixing a problem countless roofers hadn't been able to. We have booked James later in the year to renovate our driveway and restore an interior wash room. We have found James the consummate professional: for the four/five months he worked for us he arrived on time every single day and he literally didn't stop from the moment he arrived to the moment he left, other than a short lunch break. He prides himself on his work and without doubt it is the best I have ever received. James also takes pains to ensure he does not do unnecessary jobs or “create” problems to pad out the job like so many builders do – his motto is if it's not broken, don't fix it. He also made every effort to shop around for materials to save us a significant amount of money, rather than most builders in my experience who simply went wherever was nearest to them and shrugged if we ended up overpaying on materials. James's knowledge of building and landscaping is encyclopedic and even his generic advice and observations made during passing conversation has, again, saved us a lot of money. If you're looking for an honest, hard-working, personable and reliable builder then I cannot recommend Aztec Paving and Groundworks highly enough. James has turned our house into a home and added thousands to its value.

We have recently undertaken a double garage conversion and James completed the brickwork for us. He has done a fabulous job and we are thoroughly pleased with his work. Totally professional, arriving early in the mornings and just getting on with it. He takes pride in his work and does his very best to make sure the client is totally satisfied. After a previous bad experience with another company, James has now restored our faith in tradesmen. A reliable, trustworthy man who is great at his job and builds a good relationship with his client. I can highly recommend.

We started with a simple brick wall converting our garage into a room. We then had a 7×3m extention built onto the back of our home. Now fully paving out the back garden. All done by Aztec. James is fantastic builder. Vastly experience in various skills but is a perfectionist also. Any time I had any concern he would have already noticed it, explained the how and why, and came up with a plan to rectify the problem. Incredibly hard working and always with a smile on his face. He kept to his word and always did exactly what he said he would and when. Approachable and knowledgeable. Keeping us informed of how the works were progressing and foresaw any stumbling blocks or delays. Felt very comfortable in leaving him to crack on with the work. Would strongly recommend and will use him again and again for any future projects. In fact the in-laws, one of which is a qualified building surveyor and commercial roofer, are so impressed with his work and professionalism they have asked James to quote them for an extention of their own! He would think of the little touches also, like repurposing some old pathing bricks into an external step into the garden. He always kept in mind costs, which is specially important in today's economic climate, but would not sacrifice the quality which has kept the project cost effective but with the desired results. He's felt part of the family over the weeks he's been with us and the kids will miss watching him build away. You will not be disappointed if you go with James at Aztec Pavingand a coffee 1 sugar will go a long way!
