The Gate Cornwall

We had a fabulous stay the over a long weekend, taking over the hotel as a family group. its a lovely, quiet location with superb grounds and views. The room was very clean, really well fitted out with great attention to detail. Highlights for me were excellent walk-in shower (in Loft room), great WIFI, good quality DAB radio, coffee machine, comfortable bed and loads of natural light. I didn't try the outside bath, wish I had!Johnny and Rich are great. I have never met nicer or more helpful hoteliers. Nothing was a problem, they made our stay really special and we all hope to see them again. This is a standout hotel that we all loved.

We've visited the gate 4 times, and still love everything about it! A true holiday escape. We totally unwind and enjoy a relaxing few days of walking, trips to the pub and enjoy some amazing local restaurants! The hosts are exceptional, so welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Such an amazing place. Would give 10 stars if we could. Just held our daughter's wedding here. As well as fantastic staff always welcoming and helpful, a fantastic location/setting for an outdoor wedding great facilities for the reception and comfortable high quality accommodation. Wish we had other children needing to get married. This would be the place we would book. Many thanks to Rich, Johnny Helen and all the other staff who worked so hard and tirelessly to make a special occasion be a truly wonderful experience. X

As per the other reviewers, The Gate is a fantastic place to stay. Helen was absolutely brilliant. Called us on the morning of check-in to check our plans for the day and got our room ready early (4 hours!!) for us as the weather was atrocious. The hotel has been designed beautifully and all the details are fantastic. Great bedding, spotlessly clean and nice fixtures and fittings. The outside bath was a bonus too. Also really dog friendly which was great.Can't recommend enough.

Not cheap for what’s on offer.We had The Loft for a couple of nights, a nice room with a good size en-suite and outside bath, also a very small kitchenette.£550 felt a bit much.The grounds are vast and very nice, dog friendly, loads of parking.The accommodation could do with a handyman to bring it back to where it clearly once was.Would I stay again? I don’t think so, at this price you have huge choice elsewhere.

WOW. Where do I start? Rich and Jonny have the most amazing and beautiful setting, which we was delighted to use for our wedding this week.They are the nicest people, genuinely it was the most perfect few days.Nothing was too much trouble, and I would never hesitate to recommend this venue for anything.They was as chilled and relaxed as we were and I think that’s exactly why the whole day went so perfectly.Genuinely, thank you for everything, we absolutely loved becoming a Mr and Mrs at your most amazing venue.We will see you again soon.Mr and Mrs Blows (she loves taking my name)

Fantastic hotel, in a lovely area! Rich & Johnny - and indeed, the wonderful Helen, were attentive, sociable & top notch hosts - really couldn’t fault them. Nothing was too much trouble - including sorting some very troublesome laundry - Helen definitely went way above & beyond! We would stay again for sure & we’d definitely recommend!

Great stay in Cornwall.. Nice setting. Loved the bathroom all high-quality fixtures, lovely towels! the guys running the Gate were very helpful. I am giving it 5 stars as we had an amazing 3 days. All I would say is please please supply some cloths to wipe up in the bathroom and kitchen. Minor details make a big difference I feel . We used toilet paper to wipe down tops, the table etc. Beds are very firm as are the pillows, I struggled. Saying all that, I would wholeheartedly recommend The Gate! Enjoy!

Absolutely love staying at The Gate, it is our 3rd time now and it definitely won’t be our last. The rooms have been done to such a high standard and the beds are insanely comfy with stunning views to wake up to. Jonny and Rich are the nicest guys, so accommodating and personable. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend.
