I first worked with Margaret several years ago when I staged a photoshop as part of a fundraising event for a local WI in Rowlands Gill. I asked Margaret if she would help support the event by bringing along a selection of her hats for the shoot. I remember that everyone loved the occasion and wanted prints from the shoot - but they had to be images that included the participants involved wearing one of Margaret’s beautiful hats!So, I was delighted when earlier this summer Margaret asked me to get involved with the photography for a millinery shoot, she was having at U Salon in Gosforth. Working with the Salon manager, Michelle Mcfadyen, who also provided the hair and beauty for the shoot, we found a lovely group of models. This meant that all the essential aspects of the shoot were in place for what turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and artistically fulfilling photography shoots that I have ever been involved with.What was noticeable was that Margaret was able to calmly choose the right hat to compliment the models’ clothing, skin tones and hair colour. The hats were simply wonderful - there were so many to choose from it was like being in a chocolate shop and trying to taste everything all at the same time!! As a result of her professionalism, I was able to concentrate on capturing striking images of the collection of various millinery styles and colours. The resulting image set that was so strong that it made choosing which ones to process very difficult. For a photographer, this is undoubtedly a great position to be in.Margaret’s creative flair in visualising and creating hats is almost impossible for me to comprehend. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to help bring her work to the attention of others through my photography, and in my opinion, she is without question a master of her craft and a leader in the art of Millinery.I do hope to work with her again - and as soon as possible.
