A very interesting place this, lots of viking and monk history. Be aware of the tides and crossing time if you're walking or driving across. It can get busy so be aware if you are looking to eat and drink on the island and time you'll need.

Great place to visit with the family.Approx 10 min walk from the car park to the priory. If you don't go into the museum and the main priory 5 can wander Bout the church and church yard for free.Free access also to the viewing tower which is well worth a visit. Its a short hike up a steep hill on one side and a longer more gentle stole the east side.We didn't visit the castle, not a castle or gardens, but enjoyed a couple of hours wandering around the village as that is all the children wanted.

One of my favourite places when we visited Northumberland. The ruins of the priory were wonderful to walk around and I could have spent hours there. St Mary's in the grounds of the priory was beautiful also. My only complaint is that when we visited in October, nothing else apart from St Aidan's Winery was open. We had hoped to visit the heritage centre but it was closed and they gave no indication of when it would be open. We may have to return in the high season next time.

Lovely place to stroll around the village then down the coast to the castle. Some quaint shops and lovely cafe serving nice breakfast. Local produce being sold such as the famous Mead, jams and chutney, gin and rum. Keep eyes peeled for wildlife saw a deer roaming and plenty of sea birds

Love this place! A beautiful island that you can only get to when tide is low. It's a tourist attraction now, so expect it to be very busy at the weekends. We went during the week during the summer holidays and struggled to find a parking space on the island. There is a lot to see, so I would recommend going early and taking your time. A nice walk to get to the castle. Highly recommend.

Absolutely worth visiting this place. Nice and quite little place with 3 or 4 places to eat and have drinks. Must to check the tidal timings for causeway. Priory and Castle are a must visit. Toilets are neat and available in the other car park (where bus stops) which is further up in the village, near the post office. Car park costs around £6 for 2-8pm at present and it depends on how many hours we stay. Good place for bird watching too!

Always been on our bucket list and well worth the trip. There isn't tons to see or do but experiencing tiny island life is an eye opener. Plenty of cafés a pub and gift shops, if you like that kind of thing.

Interesting island, getting there feels like a bit of an adventure going across the causeway. The priory is interesting. It’s also a working island real people live and work the land and sea. The sheds made from old boats are very quirky. Just be warned that on a nice day there are hoard’s of tourists. It feels a bit like arriving at and walking to a festival!

Excellent place to visit so much to do and see. Great walks, a castle, a ruined priory, views, gift shops, mead, gin, pubs, cafes. Very popular but if you walk a bit it's easy to get away from the crowds. Check times to cross the causeway
