Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve
Brilliant place for a walk. Vat o' burn was a short but interesting walk. Toilets, small visitors centre, waste services for motorhomes and campers, free parking but suggested donation

Beautiful walks around this area. However, if you're looking for the hidden waterfall it's on the red trail and do not go up the hill to follow the trail around, go straight forwards. Then there's some rocks to climb over the water and you go through the cliffs where it comes out. It is very beautiful in there but hard to get to. You've got some careful stepping to do and slippy rocks to look out for. But even the longer trails are really nice!

What a beautiful natural reserve. My friends and I were visiting nearby, in Ballater, and were told by the local townsmen that the Muir of Dinnet was a must-visit. Well, they were certainly right. Right after we arrived, we immediately walked the paved path toward the Burn O’Vat and were caught completely by surprised at how quickly we were met with such beauty, just beyond the cleft in the rock.

A really lovely walk which is easy to do (forest walk and loch walk) with parking available with information signs about the local wildlife

Unfortunately the path down to the vat was closed due to flooding but managed to take some photos at the viewpoint. I try and come visit once a year as it's a really nice place to come with the family, lots of walks around the lake, forest and the vat (when it's not flooded!)

Lovely peaceful spot. Great facilities with visitor centre and toilets. Either a short walk up to the falls or a nice loop around the Loch. Plenty of nature to see along the way!

Totally loved it. Got there early as the car park fills up quickly especially during nice weather. Did the Burn o Vat walk first. Recommend taking waterproof shoes for that as underfoot can be wet and slippy.Walked round the Loch next where it is well signposted and with information boards to inform you of the sights. Didn't go into the visitor centre as I had the dog. Toilet facilities also available. Would definitely go again.

Stopped here to see the rock formation and waterfall within the gorge. Excellent information on site and clean toilets available. Easy to follow the path which is circular to the gorge but take care climbing over some rocks to enter through a small gap to get inside. Seems like a popular place so guessing it could be busy at times. There is a viewpoint also but only small view of loch due to trees.

Nice place to visit. During nice weather the limited car spaces fill very fast. From here we took the trail for Burn o Vat which was lovely. Before starting the trial there is a toilet to freshen up. It is highly recommended to have comfortable clothes according to the weather and good hiking shoes because roads are bumpy, slippery and uneven.Toilets: yesParking: Yes,

An idyllic heavenly place!Muir of Dinner National Reserve is a gem of a location. The hike to the falls is almost completely flat and very well tended. Only at the very end do you need to cross some rocks. It is a fantastic payoff for such a short walk and quite frankly feels like cheating. It's just not normal to have that much beauty so easily accessible. The other walks available are all lovely though longer with more ups and downs. The entire experience is full of picturesque vistas and beautiful scenery. This is an absolute must if you are in the area.
