Uist Forest Retreat

We stayed at Uist Forest retreat at the end of August and it was amazing!The accomodation was absolutely beautiful with the most gorgeous views. There was a stag that grazed a few times a day in the forest clearing below the window! You can see Vallay Island and house across the beach (a tidal island) and with the clock on the wall that showed the tide times it was easy to plan the walk across!Additionally the small touches that Katherine and Angus had made were wonderful, the bathroom smelt gorgeous, the bubble bath was luxurious and the tea lights on the wall made for a perfect soak to gaze at the views. There was also a selection of my favourite teas available and some lovely scottish nibbles left along with fresh eggs and other bits!The islands were fascinating with the white sand beaches and variety of wildlife and the people were incredibly friendly and welcoming.We will definitely return, potentially around the summer solstice next year. Thanks for a lovely stay!

A glorious week spent - even in January. Lots of fab walks, and delicious food all around the island. Be prepared for brisk weather but amazing views and wildlife. With a very cosy place to return to. Roaring fire and an incredible view. Lots of little prezzies on arrival too - including some of the immaculate Downpour Distillery gin from down the road. It’s a lovely place to rest and recuperate.

Absolutely stunning set up - everything was beyond my expectations.We were warmly welcomed, all our needs catered for. Rooms were super comfortable and warm, kitchen had everything we needed.Just simply perfect!

Kathryn and Angus were amazing hosts who were absolutely chock full of great local knowledge. They've managed to create a beautiful space in the forest which was a welcome retreat at the end of a long day's walking. Bed was super comfy and the bath was huge! North Uist was particularly good to us for wildlife - we saw many eagles and other birds, twitchers will be very happy here. 100% recommend staying here, the views were incredible from the cabin and having a log burning stove made it very cosy in the evening, when we weren't taking pictures of the stars. You'll definitely need at least an SUV (or a small car you really don't care about) to get up the forest track though, it's pretty rugged. Thanks again for hosting us, and good luck! Perfect!The owners Kathryn & Angus are lovely and so helpful and full of tips and ideas of things to do. We stayed 4 nights and ran out of time - we didn't even make it to South Uist.The place itself is really pretty and very new with everything you need to relax, cook & explore. We were here in summer and on a clear day the sky stays sunset colours all night! Hard to go to bed with these views.You're nestled right in a forest overlooking the bay and the island of Vallay - which at low tide you can walk over to and explore. There are deer around in the forest and, during our visit, some nesting white tailed eagles that Kathryn & Angus are sharing footage and images of.Definitely recommend!

Incredible views of the sea, and too many beaches to explore in a week! We also managed to catch our first glimpse of some otters and hen harriers. Kathryn and Angus were the perfect hosts, and even stopped by to share a wee dram with us! Will be back.

There's nothing negative I could or would want to say about the retreat. Cabin is excellent, a comfortable and incredibly cozy place to come home to after a day exploring the islands. Views stunning. Kathryn was a fantastic host. She came to see us when we checked in and although that was the only time we saw her (other than on our jaunts!) we knew we could ask her for anything we needed. Would demand anyone coming to North Uist or indeed the other islands to book a place here for an unforgettable trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the treehouse which was spacious, beautifully decorated and had all you could need during your stay. The remote setting high up amongst the trees instantly creates a calming, relaxing atmosphere - we didn’t want to leave. We woke on a still November morning to a high tide and had a deer pass by as we enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony. A very special place indeed! Thank you

This place is just amazing! We stayed at the Uist Forest Retreat at the beginning of February and it was just perfect.A beautiful location for a luxurious cabin. I spent 2 amazing nights here with my boyfriend and have to say it’s one of the best weekend breaks we’ve ever had. Kathryn and Angus made us very welcome and couldn’t do enough for us.It’s the perfect place to explore the beautiful Western Isles. The cabin itself has amazing views looking on to Vallay and the Isle of Harris. The weather was ideal. During the day we explored the area in the sunshine then at night we relaxed by the fire looking at the incredible view. We felt we were in a movie as the snow started to fall as we looked on to the forest and then a sea eagle flew over through the trees.Furthermore, the cabin is fully equipped with everything you need. The bedroom was very comfy with a lovely balcony to enjoy our morning coffee and the bathroom has the most amazing bath which was perfect to relax in after exploring during the day.I would highly recommend to stay here and I can’t wait to go back. Book before everyone else does as I can see it been a very popular destination for 2019.Thank you again.Clare and Richard.

Amazing place, just come! If the weather is nice there's plenty to do in the area. If it isn't, stay in and enjoy the free entertainment that is the incredible view out towards the Isle of Vallay. It's quiet and feels totally secluded, yet you have everything you need here and there's a well stocked co-op a couple of miles away if you need it. It's obvious that Kathryn and Angus, the lovely couple that run this place have poured their heart and soul (and a great deal of time and skill) into it.Just book it, before everyone else finds out!
