What was I doing fifty years ago, you ask? Rebuilding a 103' foot Alden schooner in Florida. So you can imagine the thrill I had when a call came in forty two years later inviting me to join PURITAN for a race out of Monaco. It was so exciting to be back aboard this beautiful classic schooner again. PURITAN's recent refit was so well done, one would wish to put her in a chamois bag on the mantle.The Captain and crew move about the deck with the ease and knowledge most seamen take years to acquire. Keeping the vessel in top-notch condition while racing around the buoys at warp speed, is no easy task. The crew takes pleasure in seeing that all varnish is wiped down daily and all brass is polished. I know they do this with pride, knowing they are aboard the Queen of the Fleet.The brightly appointed, spacious main saloon makes for a great gathering or dining area - easily accessible for the galley. The galley is the full width of the vessel and cranks out a variety of menus - you'd think you were at The RitzOld school, new school, doesn't matter, one can enjoy all the amenities of the sailing life aboard this fine yacht with her four brightly appointed double cabins.It has been such a pleasure being aboard PURITAN, loved every minute. A life changing world for me to be part of this vessel and all she represents.

It was the second year we rented the schooner Orianda for a cocktail party, and our team was very happy! The boat was, again, the perfect setting for our event, and the crew was helpful and welcoming, adjusting to our needs throughout the evening and helping us create an excellent cocktail for our guests.

A trip on the Puritan goes beyond a holiday. Forget all the preconceptions, this onboard journey is a real wonder. One is immediately transported to another era (with all the comforts and more of this one.) Wind down with stargazing or swimming, reading and chatting with the crew. The moment the sails catch the wind, there is a captivating silence, and to see the crew and captain handle it all, as it was done a century ago, is a rare thing indeed. No matter where your itinerary may take you (and you may be forgiven for simply wanting to stay onboard) you’ll return home a little wiser, and with tales of seafaring that will remain with you on those cold winter evenings .
