Purchased 60x10mm flat bar 30 mins. ago from Powells I haven't used them for years, the service was first class both the counter staff and the warehouse staff were very helpful. The price of £32.06 for a 6 metre length was cheaper than ebay by miles, they also cut it to 3 pieces to fit my car ,and they have a well stocked warehouse and are worth a visit even if you have to travel a few miles. they also stock welding welding electrodes,bolts,gloves etc.

I have been to this supplier on and off from aged 18-47 - yep - 29 years. Established in 1942 this company name is known throughout Bristol and surrounding areas. Counter staff, warehouse staff are all patient, knowledgeable and helpful, even the rep knows his sizes 'ad verbatim' .What a shame the short fat (5ft 4 ish - guess about 15 stone + ) man is such a bad tempered foul-mouthed and nasty fella . I believe he thinks he's the boss.( parent group Ellis would be that ?) What he is is a disappointment to all. This reputable firm has a bad apple in it's midst. Hope he doesn't ruin it for all. Please keep him away from the public- let alone the long suffering staff.This is both my honest opinion and experience. To which I have been invited to express. Keep going Fred Powell's - your product will always be needed in Bristol"

Great service, dropped in to get a couple of lengths of square tube, had it cut to size and the offcut cut down to fit in the car (had to buy 7m length), 40 quid, job done, will be back.

Really great service. Staff friendly, helpful and happy to offer advice. Nothing was too much trouble, offering to cut the round bar purchased into a suitable size to transport, and even carrying it out to the car for me. First class establishment which I will definitely be using in the future.
