Absolute 5 star experience. Beautiful service, excellent menu with superb wine pairing. The staff had Kaleidoscopic knowledge of food/wine regions with a focus on local produce. This was impeccable. thank you guys.

One of the best tasting menus we have eaten in recent times. To put that in context, we have eaten at (for example) L'Enclume and Ynyshir (both Michelin 2*) a number of times. I would rank the food (and wine pairings) at Restaurant Hjem as approaching a similar level. From the snacks (x5) to the desserts/'Fika' (aka petits fours) (all of which were particular high points) there were surprises and interesting flavour combinations - alongside significant use of local Northumbrian ingredients. This level of food doesn't come cheap and you shouldn't expect it to... For the full experience of Tasting menu @ £150 / Wine pairing @ £100 / plus aperitif/water/coffee, you should budget on £250-275 a head plus service (@12.5%).If you decide to stay (recommended as Wall is a small village without lots of other options) the rooms are simple and clean and priced at a level that reflects that. The breakfast was excellent - mainly continental style (again prominently featuring local ingredients), plus an interesting grain porridge (the only warm dish). We understand that the menu and wine pairings change regularly, and certainly look forward to returning in the not too distant future to eat here again.

Just visited Hjem in Wall and had to share the amazing experience. This place has an incredible vibe - very cozy and welcoming, just like its name suggests. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was a standout, showcasing a mix of English and Scandinavian influences, and the attention to detail was spot-on, both in flavor and presentation. A true gem in Northumberland that gives you a taste of home while taking your palate on a remarkable journey. Definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic food, lovely staff. The lounge/bar area needs refurbishing. Some people I know would prefer to be given a copy of the menu before the meal and not at the end if they prefer to choose their own wines to match up with the food. We were told dinner was at 7.0pm and were in the bar area before 6.30 pm for pre dinner drinks but didn't get our first bite to eat until 7.35pm.

We went for a significant birthday and this was a really great place to go for a big celebration. It was a sixteen course tasting menu consisting largely of a series of really attractive and delicious snacks, several no more than a few mouthfuls. The wine pairings were excellent and worked really well with the food. We felt really looked after as they fed us course after course after course. The atmosphere was really relaxed, highly polished but not ostentatious. The staff were really friendly and were very knowledgeable of each course, how it was made, and could answer questions we had on how they were made so delicious!Having stayed the night, breakfast the following morning was amazing, a real smorgasbord. We would go back in a heartbeat!

This place is amazing. We had the tasting menu adapted for vegetarians and it is one of the best meals we have ever had. Each plate was creative, beautiful and delicious. The team more than deserve their Michelin star as each bite was perfect. The drinks menu was well curated and the service found the perfect balance of friendly, knowledgeable and present without being too much.We stayed over at the hotel, the rooms were fine and we would happily stay again if we eat here in future. The breakfast was another delightful experience and absolutely delicious.

Outstanding experience for a birthday treat. 15 course menu which was magnificent. The food is beautiful, fine dining quality, but it didn’t feel stuffy in the service/atmosphere.We stayed the night, room was fine (hotel going through gradual refurbishment), then breakfast was another treat with beautifully laid out food in the morning.

We were there because of a Christmas gift. Fine Dining tasting menus are not something which would not be our 1st choice but surprise surprise.Cirvid restrictions lifted we booked for lunch on 14th Aug.Table was for noon. On arrival we were greeted made welcome invited to have drink.as they were not ready in the dining room.Circa 1230hrs the assembled diners were escorted Table by table to the dining room.First impression was oh minimalistic. It was light airy and little else but don't let this put you off.Thereafter began an experience which was noteworthy and unexpected. Food was prepared and cooked for all to seeThere were 16 courses which on completion were served by the whole team each member visiting each table during the course of the mealAn experienced not to be missed expect London prices
