Visited a couple of times as we were staying locally round the corner for a 3 night lodge stay. Beautiful pub, food was great, good atmosphere.

Fantastic place for a midweek meal. Partner opted for the linguine and I had a sirloin steak, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a silky smooth peppercorn sauce. Lovely orangery dining room at the back of the pub which overlooks a quaint sun terrace. Not very busy, but thought staff may have been a bit more attentive. Still a reasonable service and we will definitely be back.

Pleasant interior, prompt service, drinks ok, but the food, oh dear! Someone ought to tell them it's not ok to charge upper range prices for Sunday lunch and dish up pre-frozen, partly warmed up, tough and tasteless meat slices and crusty, hard veg. Extra" of leeks in cheese sauce offered

This is now a gastro pub essentially so orientated to food, which incidentally is pricey, more of this later. The bar had two real ales, Fuller's Pride and a Brakspeare. I opted for the latter. The interior of the pub has a couple of rooms at the front, with some chaise lounges around the room. It is not a traditional pub anymore, more of an eatery with a bar.At the rear in what was previously a segue into a yard and garden had been constructed an expensive looking glazed area with bi-folding doors, this is where meals appear to be mainly served. I opted for the pork. The beer was flat and coming to the end of the barrel, it was not particularly inspiring. Again, food is what they are pushing here not the beer.Food arrived, and for a £20 meal I expected more. The pork was lukewarm and didn't have any crackling forming. The gravy, which the menu blurb claimed was the pub's shining hour was hardly present and the rest was below par. The Yorkshire's were tiny and the batter had failed to fully cook through. Therefore when the bill arrived I was very surprised to see they had also sneaked on a service charge of £5!The pub is a beautiful, historic, and lovely village hostelry of the kind we need to protect. However on current form it needs owners that show it, and its customers, more respect. I can not recommended the place. If you want better real ale, though I can't vouch for the food, then I'd suggest you visit the Hook Norton managed pub, The Crown, in the centre of the village.

Absolutely amazing food and service. Would have loved to go back but we were only staying the weekend. If you are ever staying at Benson Waterfront take the recommendation and visit here, you will not be disappointed!

Very nice restaurant at the back of the pub. Very welcoming service. The menu at lunchtime was eclectic and catered for those not wanting a large meal. My only regret is they don't really address people with intolerance to dairy. I could only have cows milk. No soy or oat.

Cold restaurant, poor service had to wait a long time (25-30 mins) from main to dessert, lots of bosses etc. walked past our empty plates, only 1 waitress, but not busy, as only 1 couple as well as us. Workmen out front and on patio, 1 called out loudly in the restaurant while we were there so not a good atmosphere.

Popped in with family for a mid week lunch and it was lovely. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We mainly had the pie of the day and a kids meal and all freshly cooked. The setting is also lovely, we’ll definitely come back and recommend highly.
