DoubleTree by Hilton Southampton

The shower in bathroom flooded during showering and the door opened up against the sink instead of the bath, felt like I was being trapped. The restaurant lacked any atmosphere and the chef served cool temperature chicken curry with no chutney for the poppadom and a cold naan. Even if I had a jar of chutney it would have made me happier. The reception person had poor listening skills so I came on hear to report ! Your customers pay well over inflated prices for their stay surely a couple of nice things and attention to detail wouldn't go a miss

Everything you need!I stayed here with my daughter in a twin room. The reception area is lovely, staff very friendly and accommodating. Free fruit on the desk too ❤️ Restaurant on site, which we didn't use, but looked good with average pricing. The rooms are really comfortable. Great free Wi-Fi. Fridge, tea/coffee with kettle, huge TV, very large single beds which are really comfy! The bathroom is great too, with all toiletries available. Overall a great stay in a lovely area.

It's quiet, and the rooms compared to other hotels are very good.Room service I didn't like it very much. Honestly, whenever I call them for any service I request, I get a no answer.They charge me for water bottles though breakfast is included in the reservation.The standard of breakfast is below average, every day the same menu for 5 days.I advise the officials to amend the food menu, as well as to behave well with customers.Thank you

Quiet and ample hotel in the outskirts of Southampton.Recently renovated rooms, very clean and with nice bathrooms.Breakfast buffet is varied but of medium quality.The gym has 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, 2 bikes and weights up to 20kg - so good enough to cover the basics.You'll need Uber or bolt or your own car to go anywhere, although the 45min walk into town is really nice if the weather helps.

Really Nice room and great bathroom. Beds nice comfy, sofa bed for child not so comfy. Easy to get to with car. Service was embarrassing, there were Canadian and American guests staying as part of a Southampton cruise home. We being British were really embarrassed at the shocking lack of service in the hotel, most people had been waiting over 45 minutes to either pay their bill, or just for the menu, and although the food they did serve was nice, most of the menu was out of stock. Even the wine went out of stock, no fish fingers on the kids menu, no rack of ribs, no trout, 2 nights solid they were out of stock on most meals on the menu. Most people moved to the bar where there was slightly more atmosphere as if you sat in the dining room you would be left alone, they didn't wipe tables, didn't bring cutlery, didn't bring menus, no drinks menu, most people gave up and went to the bar themselves to get a drink, food was good when it eventually arrive, chef was good, he brought the food himself, not sure if it was lack of staff or lack of good staff. However they should have stocked up on food a bit better. Wouldn't order a cocktail because I doubt the staff would know how to make one and Wouldn't want to wait an hour for it.

The DoubleTree by Hilton in Southampton England appeared to be a very good hotel and stated it was 10 minutes from the cruise port. Being a Hilton property made me feel secure that the hotel would meet the Hilton reputation. Guess we expected to much from Hilton.This stay was a last minute change in plans due to a ship sailing delay. We selected 2 rooms - a suite and a junior suite - as a party of three. We arrived at 1 pm to the hotel - a 5 story chalet style building nestled in the woods looking very inviting. As we entered the doors we were immediately hit by massive front desk staff confusion and extremely poor management.Of course rooms were not available. In fact we had to wait until after 4 pm to get our rooms - they said there were only 2 suites in the hotel. Room cleaning staff was overwhelmed. Apparently, there was a wedding reception at the hotel the night prior that required all hands on deck so all the staff was exhausted.We ordered lunch from the bar. The sandwiches did not match the menu. We came to learn later when going to dinner in the hotel's restaurant that they had run out of foods and even white wine. Overall the dining experience was a mess and certainly not recommended.The suite was nice but with interesting quirks. The junior suite did not live up to the description. Let's just say if you are looking for a quirky in the woods chalet with a staff out of a British television comedy this is the place to stay. Just be prepared.Oh, the cruise port is really 20 minute drive away.

Came here for a business meeting in the bar area. Bar not staffed the whole time. Managed to order some lunch at 11:42, and have waited nearly 2 hours and it still hasn't arrived, only two sandwiches as well. Ordered before the lunchtime rush but hasn't made a difference. Have asked members of staff twice 'where is our order' to be told, it's just coming. Awful customer service.

Comfortable stay in a well thought out hotel. Rooms seem to have been recently refurbished and are stylish and comfortable. Common areas especially the elevators seemed a bit dated. Breakfast was a let down and a bit chaotic - when busy they completely forgot about our request for vegetarian sausages and food was not being replenished quickly enough. Don’t use the laundry service, one item went missing and the others were shrunk! However given the great location and nice rooms we would return when visiting the area again.

Stayed here for one night and was upgraded to a King Deluxe on the 5th floor. Room was lovely and clean, spacious, toiletries and towels provided. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and the cookie and water on arrival were amazing after a long drive. We had our evening meal in the onsite restaurant which was slightly expensive compared to what we usually pay (£95 for three meals and two rounds of drinks) but food was hot and tasty. Breakfast was self service but had plenty of choice and again food was hot and tasty. Will definately stay again.
