The Diner
Fantastic medium sized US diner style place, relaxed atmosphere, excellent coffee, large portion sizes and extremely tasty food, friendly staff, good value for money, highly recommended. The buttermilk pancakes are huge!

The Diner
I ordered buttermilk chicken with a side of chicken wings to start. The wings were slimy and bitter and too spicy to eat. I tried peeling off the skin to avoid the taste but there was so little meat inside it was pointless and ended up leaving £11s worth of wings for the bin. The buttermilk batter was just awful, and I actually struggled to stomach it. It was nice and crunchy to the touch but the taste was so sickly, also a fermented kind of flavour. I peeled the batter away, and the meat inside was okay but I could still taste the batter so left all three pieces. The mash was edible and the onion rings were good, but the same rings you'd get at the pub. I spent the rest of the evening feeling very nauseated and the thought of buttermilk chicken just turns my stomach now!! Had to pull over on my way home thinking I may vomit. First and definite last time I'll be visiting. Also, there is a weird smell in the restaurant, like a farm!! Couldn't put my finger on it but other reviews say the same so at least it's not just me.

The Diner
Pretty average to be honest. I believe this is the only site currently operating outside of London but I find it difficult to understand how it has even taken off in the capital with other brands doing what they do to a much higher standard. The cocktails I would avoid- stick to beer. The burgers are nice but a burger is a burger and there are better ones out there. Decor is cool and the staff were pretty good, the brand just needs more of a USP

I love eating at the various branches of The Diner in London, so when I heard a branch was opening here in my home town of London, I was ecstatic! There were some initial teething problems when I visited shortly after opening but these have since been resolved. Service is good, food is excellent, and the music playlists are typically on point. Good value for money and the Wet Fries are like a drug to me. Love this joint!!!

Wasn’t the best burger for the price was very tasteless and bacon was so crunchy just didn’t enjoy it. Also my girlfriends chicken in her burger she said was tasteless also. She also got the wet fries which where meant to be gravy which was bacon flavour turned out to be watery brown liquid which tasted like bacon, as my girlfriend said to be turned out to be like noddles in bacon broth because they got so soggy and wet.She really enjoyed the Oreo milkshake though. Also staff where nice and friendly although not present much.Plenty other burger places in Southampton that do it better.

Great food, great prices and great service!A lovely American styled diner with some very chilled staff, all of which seem quite happy in their work and are quick to serve you before you even have to ask.The food was great, didn't have to wait long and the great music kept us occupied through it.The portions are generous and theres a lot of dishes that you wouldn't get in your average American diner. Also the prices were slightly lower than average so its definitely a place to visit and definitely a place I'll be returning to.

I haven't had a burger in ages, so decided to eat here for the first time at 5pm in a Saturday after visiting the cinema. We were greeted as soon as we entered, and were offered a choice of where to sit - we picked one of the booths down the centre of the room, though in retrospect this was a bad choice as we didn't realise the seats were wooden benches which are not too comfortable. Some places can go overboard with the options on the menu, making it difficult to decide which of the twenty burgers to chose from, but The Diner appears get this right with only six or eight burgers, but with plenty of optional extras. Likewise for the cocktails available from the very well stocked bar.I plumped for a double cheese burger with bacon, sweet potato fries, and a Long Island Ice Tea. My friend went for the Corned Beef Hash, hanger fries, and a marguerite. The drinks came along quickly and the food not long after. My burger was perfectly cooked as requested - medium - and the fries were just the right amount of crispy. The ice tea was awesome. My friend's corned beef hash was immense and he was ultimately beaten by it.Great service, great food, and at around £40 for the two of us which included a cocktail each, I didn't think it was overly expensive. The only issue was the signage for the toilets is not quite in the right place, and if you are not careful, you'll end up in the kitchen. Also, the locks on one of the doors in the gents was broken, which isn't good considering how long they have been open.

First time eating here for a friends birthday.Pros -Meals were good as long as its a burger.Staff were smiling and friendly.Place was clean, tidy and a pleasant atmosphere.Cons -While staff were smiling and friendly, they were fairly inattentive. Took three polite attempts and one less polite attempt to get a jug of water for the table.Added automatic gratuity on the bill. When asked why they said we had nine people at our table. We had seven. My own meal (ribs) while edible was not particularly pleasant. Meat was tough and felt somewhat like a microwave pack. I expected better for a meal that cost 11.45. Same problem with fairly tasteless hot wings.Overall experience was ok, but it wouldn't be a choice of places to eat on a night out.

Nice American style diner. I took my children here as this was the only restaurant I could see on the outside menu that catered for them. I went in the Easter holidays and the service was slow. I spilt my drink and there was no none to clear this up and when I did manage to find someone he didn't offer to replacment it, he just carried on serving. It was worth the wait as the food was delicious. I had a real American burger made as you like them well done, medium or rare. It's good value for money amazing food but the service needs to be reviewed.
