We stayed at Strawberry Hill View, so The Joiners was the perfect short walk away for lunch.Very welcoming staff. The pub is dog friendly, which is great for dog owners, not so much when you don't have one or are not that keen on dogs. We had a couple of barkers on our visit, and though not constant, the noise did bounce off the flag floors and some walls somewhat!!The food was fabulous. Fairly good menu choice, not extensive, but I never mind that if the offerings are good quality and represent sufficient preferences (veggie, meat, fish). I would say it's a little on the pricey side, but we cleared our godly sized plates, so that speaks for itself. Shared the seafood platter as a main course, and every piece was quality. I definitely recommend trying that.If you weren't staying close by then the location is a bit out of the way, but it would be a lovely place to stay, perhaps whilst walking sections of the coastal path?!

Overall very impressed with the Aln room and the Joiner’s Arms as a whole. Very welcoming atmosphere and exceptionally good food and drink. We thought the room was well priced and very tastefully decorated and in keeping with the feel of the local area. Only a stone’s throw away from a lovely beach with charming sights and surroundings. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and were very friendly throughout our stay. Would certainly come back again in the future!

We stayed at the Castle View Cottage with our 2 children following a family wedding at The Newton Hall. At £350 a night we were very excited to see where we were staying. Unfortunately the cottage is in need of a bit of modernisation. We were greeted by a pile of bird poop from a nest above the front window. There was a bag of cement and an old rusting radiator as you pull up to the cottage under the bedroom window. The porch has dead flies on the window ledge. The cottage had a musty smell which is probably not helped by the condensation in the window panes. The beds were very comfortable however the master bedroom had a slight smell of urine. I knew the cottage was pet friendly but did not expect this. It was not an overwhelming smell but it was there. The toiletries and the continental breakfast was fabulous so no complaints there. The garden has seen better days and did not do the views justice. The cottage was decorated tastefully and is of a good size. The cottage is part of the Joiners arms but is only a short walk from the actual pub itself.

The accomodation couldn't be faulted. Really loved this. The restaurant we felt was hugely overpriced for standard offerings of mediocre uninspiring food that would be half the price for similar elsewhere. Breakfast just ordinary/standard too. The food offerings do not reflect luxury or 5 star which is a shame.

Wonderful pub. Such a welcoming atmosphere. We feel so comfortable here bringing our little children, mostly because of the relaxed atmosphere and also there is room for pushchairs. The baby changing even have spare nappies in case you find yourself all out! Also great for dog owners. We always book for Sundays but we have never had a problem getting a table mid-week without a booking.Location is perfect for a morning on the beach first or a walk after dinner. The staff are so lovely and happy to help. The food is also always very good - but we keep coming back here as the children are happy and comfortable.Thank you Joiners Arms.

Great food, really good service. King prawns were tasty. Beer battered cod and chips were lovely with crispy light batter. Love the hot chocolate pudding as well. Staff all lovely and friendly.

We had a 2 night break here with our dog. The hotel is very dog friendly and staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Menu choice not great and I had to send my meal back. However this was dealt with very well by staff member. Room a little past it’s best, bed very comfortable. Fraught from window next to bed, room very cold on a morning. We were charged someone else’s room tab upon leaving. Dealt with very well by same staff member as meal.

We’ve been before and loved the food and were very excited to return but the quality of food and service has gone downhill a lot.We were staying in Newton hall which included breakfast and we decided to book a table for the night as well.On the night when we turned up they had us booked for the wrong day (possibly Newton halls mistake) however there were 3 servers, 1 very switched on and 2 who seemed very very new. We were asked what water we wanted for the table, that never showed up. We ordered cocktails that they got wrong, they got the wine for the table next to us wrong as well, twice. Our main was prompt but between our main and dessert it took an hour… (table next to us just left after 40 minutes of waiting to be asked and they wanted dessert, table to the other side came in was seated and finished mains before we got dessert) one of the desserts was vegan and they were out of the vegan ice cream (not a problem). When it came though the whipped cream was fizzy, with a nasty after taste. They said this was because it was vegan and tasted different, but we’ve had vegan cream before and this was just awful, as if it was 80% co2. They knocked money off the bill, but it wasn’t a pleasant evening.Breakfast wasn’t much better, we ordered the eggs Benedict which came with over cooked eggs, basically hard boiled. We’ve been a lot in the past and had a great time, but as it currently is, I’d not recommend.

After a lovely brisk walk along Seahouses we were very much looking forward to getting to the hotel. Upon arrival the bar was lovely and the customer service great. The room was clean and decorated at a high standard but unfortunately the room was absolutely freezing. When I approach staff once again helpful and gave us a small electric heater, unfortunately this did not make much of a difference. There was no getting cozy in our room so we went downstairs for drinks and food. When customer left after eating and the bar/restaurant became empty the restaurant area was also a little chilly too. Possible would be better to stay in the summer, as much as liked the place being so cold has put us off returning. After costal walks you need a warm place to go back to and unfortunately this was not the place.
