North East Maritime Trust

An excellent place to be apart of and visit

Located on the south side of the River Tyne at south shields, the North East Maritime Trust restores historic boats and craft as well as to encourage and facilitate the conservation, restoration, repair, upkeep and public display of historic vessels and maritime craft as well as maritime artefacts of all kinds.The yard also has an accessible workshop which is open between 10:00 and 15:00 hours weekdays and from 10:00 for a couple of hours on Saturdays.

Great little museum. Definatly worth a visit.

I could have spent days here. Everyone was so incredibly welcoming and kind. They have an abundance of stories to tell and have together preserved something very special.Watching the team restore these vessels with such care was truly inspiring, and their treasure trove of maritime artifacts is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Just WOW!If you're in the area I highly recommend that you pop in - no doubt you'll be welcomed with smiling faces and a cup of tea.I will most definitely be back!
