Lynnfield Hotel & Restaurant 4 Star Rated

We had lunch at the Lynnfield Hotel. Our server was a lovely young lady, who provided attentive but not intrusive service. The food was quite bland, although the soup of the day (sweet potato) was tasty. The hotel and restaurant are removed from the road, so enter where the sign is and drive a little up the hill.

What a fabulous restaurant! The setting and decor are really lovely. After we were seated, we were brought some lovely bread and a little canapé to start. We had main courses and desserts, all of which were amazing. The cafe gourmand is an excellent dessert when you can't pick only one! The cheeseboard is a great showcase of Orkney produce. The service was excellent and staff were very attentive without being overbearing.I would highly recommend if you really want to treat yourself to some amazing, locally sourced food!

Top quality food with probably the best selection of whiskies available in Orkney. Good WiFi available too and nice lounge to sit and relax pre or post eating.Good to see the owner getting his hands amongst it up on a ladder painting the building.

Excellent meal, well presented and staff efficient and professional. Highly recommend.

Good food, good wine list, amazing whisky bar (300+ options), great atmosphere (make sure you check out the other rooms), but service was terrible - servers looked very inexperienced. Unfortunate as the kitchen does deliver!

Hotel was lovely however one meal let down my experience. Starter was good, however paying £25 for a grey and overcooked steak that was haphazardly presented was a disappointment. Also, the pavlova was so chewy it was almost inedible. Perhaps an issue with consistency, as the photos on Google look much better.

Not the best place I've stayed, the staff are always right and the customer is wrong, never experienced that until I had stayed here.The rooms are nice and good selection of whisky, the food isn't that good, small portions and bland food, to say I had most of the menu when there.The staff are not polite, well they are to your face but when they think you have gone, they then talk about you and not in nice ways.I'm booking another place to stay when I next visit, as I want a place where I feel welcomed and not rushed to get out of the place.Poor staff and management in my eyes.Could do or could be better.

Excellent wine list. Local specialties — “trio of mutton” — and good view. 10 mins by bus from centre or £7 taxi.

Cannot comment on the hotel but the restaurant is great and caters nicely to gluten free people. The value for the food you get is good, the tastes are delicious. Finish your dinner off with a glass of whisky to top it all off nicely
