Tim is a true bibliophile taking the time to feed this novice bibliophile’s love for all things printed. Each time I visit London I make it a point to go on book hunts and this will be a shop I visit on all subsequent visits. Visit this store, tell Tim what you collect or what you do, and he’ll have something for you.

I wandered into this wonderful shop with a very vague idea that I wanted to buy a beautiful map as a gift. And Tim certainly came up trumps. His knowledge, passion, patience and good humour meant that I spent one of the happiest half hours I can ever recall in a shop! And even better - he managed to dig out a great present too!If you know anyone who loves maps, and want to treat them to something a bit special, Bryars & Bryars really has to be your first port of call.

Came into this shop on a whim to buy a present for a map aficionado. This shop has an amazing collection of maps, books and railway memorabilia dating back as far as the 1500s. Tim the proprietor was knowledgeable, friendly and was more than happy to explain the maps and their significance in great detail, you can tell that maps are his passion and he clearly enjoys sharing this with others.Definitely worth a visit if you have any interest at all in historic maps or books.

Bryars and Bryars is the best rare map and bookshop in London. Its proprietor, Mr. Tim Bryars is both friendly and extremely knowledgeable about rare books and maps. The wide variety of items in the shop will guarantee that even the most specific collector's needs will be satisfied. I would not consider buying a rare map from any other establishment as I have so much trust in Mr Bryars' knowledge and acumen.

What an absolute delight of a shop!Tim Bryars is warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about historical prints. I ummed and aahed over a purchase for a few weeks and Tim was always patient and helpful. His passion and interest in old maps and books is infectious. This is exactly the kind of small business that I love supporting.

I have only visited this wonderful establishment twice. And on both occasions found Tim to be the kindest, most friendly and interesting individual to offer up his wealth of knowledge on both maps and books. His enthusiasm for his trade is equalled by his enthusiasm to pass on knowledge and interest. If you like old maps and books this is the finest place in London. If you like a good ol' chat with someone that greets you as an old friend, this is again the finest place in London. For me this fine shop is 'chicken soup for the soul'. I cannot wait to return.

I’m so glad that on my last day in London I decided to visit this shop together with my son. We were very pleasantly surprised by the way Tim explained everything in detail that I needed to know about the map of Asia which I had purchased from him. He is very knowledgeable, warm and made us feel very welcome in his shop. I am very happy with my purchase and certainly will pay him a visit again. I would highly recommend this shop.

My friend and I were in today and were so impressed! Tim is so knowledgeable and helpful, going above and beyond to help us find what we were looking for. I came in for a little book of poetry as a gift for my grandma and he had the perfect suggestion. He was also so nice to answer all our questions about his incredible collection of rare books (quite a few are absolutely unbelievable). Very refreshing to meet someone so passionate about what he does. Such a lovely store and experience, I’ll recommend it to anyone I know going to London.

I’ve purchased several books and maps at Bryars and Bryars over the years, one of my favourite shops in London.Tim is that rare thing: an expert who wears his learning lightly. His expertise when it comes to maps and books is second to none. He’s also an extraordinary and generous host; I’ve met so many interesting people in the shop.
